Occupy San Diego activists will march on City Hall tomorrow, Tuesday, October 25, to request that the City of San Diego adopt a resolution similar to the one adopted by Los Angeles, to support the Occupy San Diego protests and are requesting your help by marching with them and signing a petition (which will be presented to the council) to show your support.

You do not need to be a resident of the city to sigh this petition.

The plan is to march from Children’s Park (1st and Island) at 9am on
Tuesday, Oct 25, to Civic Center / City Hall where we will attend the City Council Meeting at 10am (12th Floor, City Hall Bldg).

  • Please sign the petition.
  • Please plan to march from Children’s Park starting at 9am, Tuesday, Oct 25.
  • Even if you can’t make the march, please join us at SAN DIEGO CITY HALL, 12th Floor (council chambers) at 10am, Tuesday, 25.

Also, the UC Faculty Council is urging its members to support the movement and a petition is circulating. I hear it’s collecting a lot of signatures.

whats interesting is that in NYC, a lot of folks are rebelling against support from local politicians, like assemblypersons and city council. I think its important to at least attempt something like this….the effort is certainly pure.

Lane, my question is whether the City Council be on the right side of history. Years ago we successfully demanded that the city of San Diego divest itself of investments in apartheid South Africa. The Mayor and council have supported marriage equality for the LGBT community. Why in the world would I not demand acknowledgment and support of Occupy SD? I don’t think that compromises the essential nature of the movement. We are not asking for permission. We are not going away.

We could bribe the city council. It’s been working so far. Why would they want to change now. I’m agree with NYC , as not to ask the council anything. These city council corporations (persons) on will keep the Occupy SD movement from achieving anything of any relevance. Love your enemy. Never ask them for anything.
