A string of explosions going off in Ocean Beach? Have you heard them?

in Ocean Beach, Popular

What’s being reported as an acid bomb was set off near the intersection of Bacon and Brighton in Ocean Beach over night on Wednesday, Oct. 26th.  The fiery liquid was burning in a trash can, and a street was closed as authorities dealt with the mess.

One official was quoted by news as saying that there’s been “a rash” of such incidents” in OB recently.

One local TV station reported:

Fire investigators say this kind of bomb is extremely dangerous and this is just the latest in a string of explosions in the Ocean Beach area.

What? Explosives going off in OB? No way, Jose!  “A string of explosives” in Ocean Beach? Loud noises at the beach – unheard of!

In the comments of the news report, one commenter named OBehave said:

I called 911. It was a thunderous boom, definitely not a firecracker. The weekly rental place nearby has tweakers setting off firecrackers at all hours not infrequently, including the night before this.

Another commenter said “LSD was everywhere.”

Have you heard any of these explosives? Has there been a “string of explosives”?  Let us know.

I have heard them. But figured it was some especially loud fireworks. On this side of OB, bozos with no regard for their neighbors set off fireworks almost every night. This has been especially true in summer, but is still a regular thing. I would love nothing more than to report them to the police if I could only pinpoint their location. I just know it’s within a couple of blocks in the cable/longbranch area.

A brick of fireworks were going off (which sounded like cape may/bacon) Wednesday morning around 2am. It seems like its been a weekly occurrence lately.

Wasn’t there a discussion on explosions in this area on this site a while ago? Seems like people were hearing loud explosions late at night, but no one could pin point when/where they were occurring.

I remember hearing the last batch of explosions.
Much louder than the usual kids with the fireworks.

A while ago (a month or so) I saw a pile of some kind of burning debris on the street in front of the post office, the police were there when I walked back.

Didn’t think much of it at the time, I figured it was the work of some crank mad about junkmail or something.

Some years ago,25 or so , one of my homies from the CDC ran a little experiment on Voltaire, up the hill. First couple of “noises” 22 cal. Then 38 cal. 12 Ga. Up the disturbance ladder. Explosives(home-made) Various loudnesses. All done just to monitor police responses. Who knows? Some strange shit happens in OB, so don’t be too shocked. After all it’s only Ocean Beach.

I forgot the “Acid” bombs. I think there were some of ’em at the hole. Blue or purple “Acid” something or anothers. Red Mountain jugs. Or Maybe “Spinada” bottles. Just in case some of you guy’s are ill-educated (ignorant) they are the reason for the no glass containers allowed at the beach. If we have some new OB riots, just throw “Pee Balls”.

Tuesday 10/25/11 – 50 block of Brighton, my husband slept on the couch (I was sick) away from our noise canceling bedside fan and he said there was a fire cracker fight in the middle of the night. We hear loud explosion type noises all the time. There could definitely be a shooting and no one would ever know.

I’ve heard the fireworks at night, and I’ve heard the sound of gunfire (most recently when the police killed that poor guys dog). You will know the difference when you hear gunfire.

I’m pretty sure if anyone’s setting off fireworks in the middle of the night, their stupidity is not a product of ingesting meth.
It’s alcohol- but then since alcohol is legal it’s a bit harder to gather around as a mob and demonize its users as the common enemy causing all of our problems.
Then again I’ve never seen such a unique recipe for stupidity as when people choose to do both, so…..
It’s asinine to assume tweekers want to bring that kind of attention to themselves at those hours.
Drunks go looking for it.

Maybe this is an old article but another loud crazy boom just went off and I don’t know whether to pack my car with survival stuff because we are being bombed or if I should go back to sleep because there are idiots setting off firecrackers again.
