San Diego City College to Bonnie Dumanis: You Can Run But You Can’t Hide

in Election, Popular, San Diego

The “non-campaign” of District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis for the Mayor’s office continues unabated.  Last week she refused to join in a Lincoln-Douglas style debate at Poltifest.  This week she’s cancelled a speech at San Diego City College during Constitution Week, faced with the potential for hostile questioning from students upset with her lack of action and interest in a domestic violence case that resulted in the brutal on-campus murder of student Diana Gonzalez last year. A promised investigation into what may have gone wrong in that case has resulted in exactly nothing happening.

From a KPBS story about this case last year:

SAN DIEGO — October is Domestic Violence Month. San Diego County District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis highlighted the problem this week. But she did so amid mounting questions about why her office didn’t press charges against a man suspected of murdering the wife he had previously brutalized. The victim tapped into the very resources Dumanis touted….  …her estranged husband kidnapped her from San Diego City College. For three days, he held her captive. She said he raped her. He threatened to kill her. And he choked her until she passed out…

…Immediately, following the attack, Gonzalez reported the alleged abduction to San Diego police. The 19-year-old told a detective Perez had battered her 20 other times. Based on her injuries and her story, the detective determined Gonzalez had been a victim of kidnapping, assault, rape, false imprisonment, spousal abuse and criminal threats. Perez was arrested. The police department submitted the case to the district attorney’s office. Gonzalez also filed for a restraining order against Perez…

…But the district attorney’s office did not press charges. Perez was released. And authorities now believe he went back to San Diego City College for Gonzalez a second time last Tuesday. This time she died violently.

While candidate Carl DeMaio, who also declined to debate last Saturday, seems intent on pursuing a strategy that involves only meeting with Certain Types of people (those who agree with him), Dumanis appears to be staking her political future on a campaign that seemingly involves meeting as few actual voters as possible. Unless they have cash.

Her public appearances for the coming month include fundraisers, cocktail fundraisers and more fundraisers, including one this Thursday (September 22) in the 4500 block of Del Monte Avenue, overlooking Ocean Beach. The suggested minimum donation for all these events is a mere $150. No word on whether there will be drug testing at the OB event.

“Bonnie Dumanis is the closest option to extend the Sanders years.”

The Dumanis non-campaign is, in part, dictated by ongoing and very vocal opposition to her practices as District Attorney regarding medical marijuana co-ops (actively prosecuting) and domestic violence towards women (alleged indifference).  Opponents aligned with both causes have vowed to actively campaign against her Mayoral bid, including setting up a Facebook page called Not Dumanis.  Then there are the people, including family members and her ex-husband Jonah Shacknai, who have found the DA’s investigation into the “suicide by gymnastics while bound nude” of Rebecca Zahau at the Spreckles mansion in Coronado lacking.

The Dumanis non-campaign is also predicated on her extensive political connections throughout the San Diego power structure—and, no doubt, her knowledge of political and legal scandals that lie hidden deep within “case closed, decline to prosecute” files within her office.  Just this week her campaign trotted out the amazing “news” that local zillionaire Irwin Jacobs was endorsing her Mayoral bid, even though it was obvious from reviewing the campaign donations declared for the first quarter of this electoral season that he was fully committed. And then there are the numerous Democrats that have endorsed Dumanis, even though the Party actually has a credible candidate in this supposedly non-partisan election for the first time in two decades.

As Lucas O’Connor, writing in Two Cathedrals, put it succinctly:

Bonnie Dumanis is the closest option to extend the Sanders years. The Sanders years have failed to address the budget crisis, failed to “solve” pensions, failed to come up with a model to connect philanthropists with communities, removed layers of accountability from municipal services, and directly instigated the statewide death of redevelopment corporations in the hopes of building a Chargers stadium. The only people with an interest in perpetuating this are those who benefit from the legacy power structure at City Hall — insiders with personal relationships downtown. So supporting a moderate Republican is a pay-to-play access move, ensuring that City Hall stays open to a few, select Democrats willing to promote Republican policy. It’s a nonpartisan problem, but a systemic one.

So the upshot of this is that Dumanis is obviously hoping that the sheeple will follow their “leaders” who have endorsed her so she doesn’t have to bother dirtying her hands with ordinary voters.  Be warned, Ms. Dumanis: 2012 will be a year of the activism here in San Diego–you can run, but you can’t hide.

Thanks again to the wonderful OB Rag for their insightful take on this issue. It is a marvelous testament to the memory of Diana Gonzalez that there now exists women who will actively make a stand and protest injustices in her name committed by the corrupt so-called “public servants” of San Diego.

Also Thanks for the info on Bonnie in OB on Thursday night. Maybe a few NOT DUMANIS friends can get together with our bullhorns, signs, and James Gang NOT DUMANIS T-shirts to have a little fun? God Bless the OB Rag!

I’ve only met Doug a few times and he’s never invited me to his house, so I don’t know if this info is legit or not, but if it is WTF does it have to do with anything? What’s your home address, Ashley? For that matter, what’s your full name – if you own anything in the state and you’re willing to be honest with us I’d be happy to return the favor and post a list of all your known addresses in short order, just in case someone’s curious – I be the master of the googles, yo! Cheers!

We removed Ashley’s (or whatever her name might be) comment regarding the supposed address of one of our writers, lord only knows who lives at the address she posted…

FYI– Here’s what’s going on here. A commenter using the name “Ashley” left what she thought was my home address earlier this evening in the comments column here. The address was (very) incorrect. The comment was removed, lest the person living there who may or may not share my name be harassed by irate Dumanis supporters. Apparently they are upset because I shared a link taken from Bonnie Dumanis (public) campaign website that invited the pubic to a fundraiser. We’ll have full coverage on this in the morning. We have Ashley’s IP address and more details will be forthcoming…

Why is this necessary? It was almost certainly the daughter of the homeowner’s where the fundraiser will be held, and regardless of who anyone will or will not be voting for for our next Mayor, is it really appropriate to insinuate protesting a private residence? If it is one of my parents, I do the same thing.

Don Bauder of the Reader said it best:

“If Bonnie Dumanis were standing on a downtown street and saw a prominent real estate developer — particularly one that was one of her contributors — gun down six people, she would look the other way.”

I personally can evidence that Bonnie KNOWS the good justices at the Fourth District Division One Appellate Court have aided to keep a massive insurer fraud scheme going by being willing participants in a malicious SLAPP suit brought by authors of fraudulent medico-legal policy; and who used criminal perjury to establish needed reason for malice while litigating over a writing regarding public health – that named names.

Bonnie KNOWS this has aided with an insurer cost shifting scheme onto taxpayer funded social and disability programs, when insurers are provided a bogus legitimizing factor in policy to be able to deny liability. She refused to investigate the judiciaries and a case of the resultant insurer fraud right here in the county. She did not deny the undeniable evidence that her well connected, local judicial allies are, like Bonnie, also practicing politics – but not law.

In fairness, even though it was public knowledge via being listed on her website, Doug posted a private address with the insinuation that people should go there to protest during a fundraiser. That’s somewhat dubious. There will be plenty of chances for anyone to make their political opinions known should she stay in the race, and one would hope that he — and Ashley — could find a better way to make their points than posting other people’s personal information in an inflammatory manner. Kudos for the moderation on both counts.

NOT DUMANIS! September 21, 2011 at 7:58 am

Sorry to see Doug get embroiled in all this drama about addresses.
I would like to assure everyone that if a few ND protesters do go over there,
we promise to conduct ourselves with the utmost of care. We promise not to wave picket signs right in people’s faces, keep our yelling to a friendly level, & not call anyone there a “WHORE” unless Bill “Whore” Gore shows up. I am so looking forward to debuting my new James Gang NOT DUMANIS T-shirt at this event.

This is a residential area and I grew up on that hill right around the corner.
I am sorry to see that the neighborhood has changed so much in the wrong direction.
This address is a McMansion-an ugly house built out to the very edges of the property line but it does have a lovely, unobstructed view of the Pacific. If Bonnie does still show up, and the protesters remain on the public sidewalk, without creating too much of a noise disturbance-we are well within our rights to protest this evil, wicked woman supping in Ocean Beach with misguided hosts. The homeowners SHOULD be ashamed that they have the temerity to invite DIRTY DUMANIS into the good karma, bohemian enclave of Ocean Beach-home of DOUBTLESSLY many medical marijuana patients. I would like to offer some outreach to this “Ashley” whom many are assuming is the embarrassed and mortified daughter of the Del Monte property-owners. We understand her shame & promise to keep the protests to a minimum in order not to cause her even more outcast status that she will automatically get once her friends and cute guys learn her clueless parents support Bonnie Dumanis!

A little historical background and information on the murder of Diana Gonzalez as it pertains to so-called Domestic Violence folks holding a conference/forum today at San Diego City College for Diana Gonzalez.

Although it’s not politically correct to say so, the simple fact is officials are lying.

Days after Diana’s murder I went to the First forum held at the college Officials from The Center for Community Solutions was also there. I passed out some brochures about GPS with Victim Notification so women could save their own life.

The Center for Community Solutions – as well as the Family Justice Center, including Lt. Lori Lunhow, specifically told me they were NOT interested in GPS with Victim notification.

They’re interested in attending conference about Domestic Violence Awareness.

On October 19, 2010 I went to the City Council and asked them to purchase GPS to give to family courts. San Diego has the money, but the people in power, including women clearly do not feel women are important enough to allocate funds.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qhOrh1_Oa3c

Here’s a video concerning specifically how one GPS with Victim Notification works.

I have an appointment out-of-town today or I’d be there. But please let Everyone know the “Victim Notification” technology to empower women to save their own lives – including a Siren, is both available and unwanted.

Neither family court judges nor city and council officials including the various non-profits, is remotely interested in solutions.

Here’s another device, the one with a siren to warn Everyone. It’s an mobile neighborhood watch, not limited to sex offenders…most courts use them. The clip featured sex offenders simply because John Gardner was in the news at the time.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=45ZsLMCxjL4

However, regarding that clip, GPS staffers on duty 24/7 could just as easily call the women victim to tell her to get out of harms way ahead of time and in real time to help her save her own life…and then activate the siren, and then call the police. But the GPS staffer is the First responder…in real time.

Judges claim a new law is needed. Not true. They could order it and the Court of Appeal could affirm or deny the order. None however, seem willing to, when ordering a restraining order, add a GPS enhancement after a hearing regarding evidence. I’m not saying GPS with Victim notification is needed in every situation. That’s up to judge to decide.

What I am saying is family court judges not only aren’t protecting women, they show no sign of willingness to even try.

I’ve also contacted my various representatives about this. From Christine Kehoe to Garrick, to Nathan Fletcher. No one responded appropriately.

So Family Courts dirty little secret remains in place, and the general public remains unaware that Family Court judges have long adjudicated crimes in family court.

Check out this form for supervised visitation. Of the eight reasons listed, FOUR involve crimes committed against family members.
http://www.courts.ca.gov/documents/fl341a.pdf

Also see,
http://www.familylawcourts.com/supervised_visitation.html

The woman in the video was targeted by Bonnie Dumanis.

The technology is here.
The technology is inexpensive.
But the technology is denied women because the bottom line is this:

Women are not important enough to allocate funds for inexpensive equipment.

We don’t need another “Domestic Violence Awareness” Conference.

What we need is officials to be held accountable for discarding half the population

It should never happen that way. Everyone is going to support who that want. and dispite disagreements, or difference of opinions, there’s no reason to endanger someones well being over it.

At right wingers! Youtube, this blog, and most other blogs. THAT! the reason most comments pend approvel, or blogs have a moderator, because of thing like this (posting other peoples personal information), it has nothing to do with being scared of a reply from another!
