Editor: Here’s yet another TV critique that heaps kudos onto “Terriers” – the private eye series filmed in OB but cancelled earlier this year.  The Television Critics Association’s (TCA) announcement of its  nominations for the  2011 awards included Terriers, which made the list for Outstanding New Program.

The Television Critics Association (TCA) announced the nominations for the 2011 TCA Awards. Among the series to receive multiple nominations are Game of Thrones, NBC’s Parks and Recreation and Community, and FX’s Justified.

The 2011 TCA Awards (not to be confused with the other recently announced critics award nominations, Critics’ Choice Television Awards) is a non-televised event and is set to take place at an invite-only presentation this August.

While I’m happy to see HBO’s new series Game of Thrones recognized by the TCA critics for it’s excellent (nearly finished) first season, and especially happy that Peter Dinklage got his own nomination for the show, my favorite nomination among the bunch is Terriers, which made the list for Outstanding New Program. The unfortunately cancelled drama series was one of the best shows to debut last season. The TCA certainly got it right by having it on the list, though it has some steep competition next to GoT, AMC’s The Walking Dead and the rest. Another brilliant, cancelled-too-soon series nominated for an award is Freaks and Geeks, which is up for the Heritage Award.

According to a report from Deadline Hollywood of last December FX’s drama:

Terriers ended its disappointing freshman run last night with 784,000 total viewers tuning in for the season finale, 405,000 of them in the adults 18-49 demographic. That was the third most-watched episode of the season and the fourth highest-rated in adults 18-49 despite the fact that the finale of the Shawn Ryan/Ted Griffin series had the show’s highest-rated lead to-date, the broadcast premiere of Tropic Thunder, which posted 1.1 million A18-49 in the 9:30-10PM half-hour leading to Terriers.
