We and our readers had such fun with the open thread last Friday, we decided to do it once a week. If you’d rather see it on someday other than a Friday, let us know.

I was passing by the OB place where you dump your Christmas tree and I almost stopped to talk to this one guy who was putting his tree out and ask him, ‘when is it proper for one to take down Christmas decorations?’ Obviously he was doing it like almost 4 weeks after the holiday.

I am a man. I am a man with a plan. I am a man with a plan to close Newport Ave. and make a greenway (very successful street conversions to greenways have occurred in Devner, Vancouver, and of course European socialist countries).

Buzzinesess will initially object, but once peer reviewed evidence is presented to them about the economic benefits of such street conversion, I can not imagine any reason why they would not be super happy about it. Newport is perfect because there are alleys for truck deliveries, etc…

Poll: Create a greenway in between:

Bacon and Abbott
OR
Cable and Bacon

Heres the low down – this is completely possible and it would benefit EVERYONE involved. Economically, socially, sustainably. Yes – the kids may run amok, but from my 2 year old OB eyes, the community that OB prides itself on is still intact in numerous ways. Rather than hating the bums/travelers with these awful stickers, we need to come together and police ourselves. We have enough pride/love/vision to do this, I can see it in the majority of peoples eyes.

That is my rant and before you write this idea of as another dream, I can assure you I can make this happen. All I need is the community support, I can supply the evidence and hard facts demonstrating the benefits. Good Ole boy Mr. Falcouner can be with me or against me, I don’t recommend he pushes back.

Thoughts?

What’s up with the corner lot? NOTHING has happened since the “groundbreaking” fluff? Why does that city truck need to be kept there? Same old BS it seems…..

Oh, anyone notice they were trimming the palms where I-8 meets Nimitz? Nice.

Woot! I just know Frank will have something to say about this. He had the chance today to go out on a sailboat and possibly see some gray whales. Wish I was there…

Hey RB, I don’t think the mountain has gotten any bigger, but I hear ya… Cowles used to be a fav of mine, but I am too outta shape now and it’s too damned crowded there most of the time.

I recommend other hill tops – like S. Fortuna Mtn in Mission Trails park.

Anybody know how and who to contact at the DMV when you haven’t received your license which was renewed by mail and the check was cashed? I have gone nutz checking the DMV site and I promised My Beloved- the man who has everything but a current drivers license- that I would figure this out as part of his birthday present today. ..

It took me three months and two temporary permits to get my new license.
They are backed up because of the new tamper proof licenses.
I did call their state number and got the option for them to call me back. It worked well. They called me back and the employee was helpful.

Did you have to get temporary permits by going in person to the DMV? Online renewal is theoretically the way to avoid going to the DMV….

They sent me the temporary permits in the mail.
They also told me that the police know of the problem and would not ticket me.

Thanks RB. My husband drives a van pool vehicle for UCSD, and the van pool folks weren’t worried about him driving either.
