Help sought to identify man’s body found near OB pier

Update:  A small memorial is placed at the site where his body was brought up from the ocean.  Appears his name is Matt.  (See below)

Editor: A man’s body was found late Friday (12/10/10) night in the ocean near the Ocean Beach Pier.  He hasn’t been identified yet, so the Medical Examiner is asking the public for any clues as to his identity.  If you know who he is or have any info about him, please immediately contact the Medical Examiner’s Office at (858) 694-2905.

The dead man may be named “Matthew” and may have recently have arrived from Arkansas. Another guy was found at the same time in the water off Del Monte Avenue. He has been hospitalized, but the following report states:

“… officials have been unable to locate him because of federal privacy laws, an investigator with the Medical Examiner’s Office said.”

OCEAN BEACH — The county Medical Examiner’s Office is asking for the public’s help to identify the body of a man found floating near the Ocean Beach pier last week.

He was described as white and between 18 and 30. He was 6 feet tall, weighed 201 pounds and had light brown or dark blond hair, brown eyes, sparse facial hair and acne scars on his face, the Medical Examiner’s Office said Wednesday.

The man had no tattoos or other distinguishable scars or birthmarks and was wearing size 12 Columbia brand sandals.

Oh man that was awful. I heard a bunch of police radios in the area and Sarah and I went to investigate. There he was, stretched out on the seawall. Cold and wet and dead. Poor dude got bashed against the rocks and lost it apparently. That’s a bad place to fall in.
