OB Rag Live-Blogging Today

Today the OB Rag will have a “live blog” on the elections. We will be covering local races as well as prominent national ones, trends, results, victories, defeats – most of the day. And at 5:00 pm, we will be receiving results form the East Coast and will report anything of significance here on this website. Polls do not close on the West Coast until 8:00 pm so that is when the live blogging will intensify. We’ll go till we fall asleep.
You will be able to participate. Make comments at the live blog post (NOT THIS ONE) and I will copy them and insert them into the blog post itself. So, come on down, the water’s fine.

Alright you deadbeats! It’s time to get your potatoes off the couch and go vote. Yup, it’s today. If you don’t vote, Meg Whitman and the oil companies sponsoring the assorted ballot propositions in favor of air pollution and asthma will continue to run their TV ads until Christmas. If you don’t vote, that crazy cousin of yours will continue to ride his bicycle in circles out in front of the Apple Tree while yelling “Prop 19, hell yeah!”. And if you don’t vote there will be no surf until after Thanksgiving. Just. Do. It.

Meanwhile, down at San Diego CityBeat’s election headquarters (which is actually a broken down RV parked at a secret location in Normal Heights), they’re gonna be hosting a “live blog” starting at 6pm. You can dial in on the internets and watch exciting witticisms scroll down the screen in real time. Their staff will be reporting results live from Election Central at Golden Hall, with guests (including yours truly, representing the OBRag) and panelists from a variety of locations–including their couches at home. They’ll have representatives from the left, the right, the in-between and, once the Prop 19 results start coming in, the far out. Through the magic of elfin ™ technology, readers will also be able to comment and pose questions.

As the polls close, Alexander will tell us what her watchdog organization what kind of reports she’s heard from polling stations around the state and what difficulties may have arisen as voters cast their ballots.
8:30 p.m. Derrick Roach, Assembly candidate, private detective and Republican operative. Roach will pick up his special “Turds & Blossoms” award and then join us for a brief chat about playing dirty in politics.
9:00 p.m. Erica Holloway, Speaker Education Project
Formerly the press officer for County Supervisor Pam Slater-Price, Holloway will discuss what will happen when Republicans (probably) take back the US House of Representatives. She may also talk about Proposition A, since she is a media strategist for the campaign to pass the measure to ban project labor agreements.

I just wanted to let people know the lines at the polling places seem to be very short right now, so it’s a great time to go vote. I didn’t have to wait at all at my polling place in OB.

Don’t watch the election on ABC! They’ve lined up known liar and race-baiter Andrew Breitbart to do Election Night commentary. Remember him? He got African American USDA employee Shirley Sherrod fired with his highly edited video appearing to show her giving a racist speech—when the full video showed the opposite. Viewers depend on news for facts—Breitbart lies. Watch anyone but ABC on Election Night!
I hear you on ABC. Integrity seems to be a lost art. Well, off to vote.

Very mellow at the rec center polls this morning – 4 pollsters and 1 voter when I poked my head in around 7:30 to drop off the mail ballot I never get around to mailing in time.
My wife and I just returned from voting. There were 2 people in front of us, and 4 more followed us in. I think that’s a pretty good number for 1:oopm on a Tuesday. There were more people walking towards the polling place with sample ballots in hand as we left. Hopefully that signals there will be a good turn out for the day.
Great Jon, all 3 of us will be voting at our local fire station upon Patty’s return from work.
A young woman just knocked on my door here in City Heights to make sure I knew my polling place and to get out the vote for Marty Block. Turns out she is staying in OB at a house there with other campaign workers. I gave her our OBRag card and encouraged her to give us an update on her precinct work.
