Msnbc TV host Keith Olbermann was suspended indefinitely on Friday [November 5, 2010] for making campaign donations to three Democratic congressional candidates, apparently in violation of NBC News ethics policy.
The announcement came in a one-sentence statement from msnbc TV President Phil Griffin: “I became aware of Keith’s political contributions late last night. Mindful of NBC News policy and standards, I have suspended him indefinitely without pay.”
The donations were first reported by the Politico website earlier in the day.

This is bull pucky! Olbermann is one of the best TV commentators on the air.
“While NBC News policy does not prohibit employees from donating to political candidates, it requires them to obtain prior approval from NBC News executives before doing so.”
Sound like a pissing contest to you?

Hmmmm? Wonder how Roger Ailes of Faux News would have handled this if he caught one of his lackeys making donations to the Repubs??
News? Ethics? Journalism?
This is just crazy talk from another era.
I’d be curious to know how frequent it is that staffers apply for, and receive, permission from the network president to make political contributions…
Just like that person who burned the Quran in New York, this is lame.
People should have a right to do, or donate what they want, to who/what ever they want. There was a poll on the link nunya provided. Will he resign? I say no and why should he?
It’s MSNBC corporate politics IMO.
They were trying to become the liberal Fox, but liberals don’t respond as well to the ideological-echo-chamber approach, and their ratings haven’t improved.
Now they’re trying to appear nonpartisan again by cracking down on Olbermann.
Looks like a publicity stunt.

nunya, thanks – I’ve reposted those links in the main article above.
MSNBC has re-instated Keith, particularly after …. “Olbermann’s fans spent Friday deluging MSNBC with phone calls and e-mails, Maddow said during her show. By Sunday, more than 200,000 had signed a petition to reinstate him organized by the Progressive Change Campaign Committee.
