080814-A-7377C-001Do you want to show your contempt for the Florida church that’s threatening to burn Korans? Do you wish to do something meaningful on Saturday, the anniversary of 9-11? Here are several events to attend – that you won’t find in the San Diego U-T:

Noon Peace Protest at Federal Building to Condemn the ‘Burn a Koran Day’

On Saturday Sept 11th, in response to the Dove World Outreach Center propaganda to make this day an official ‘International Burn a Koran Day,’ the people of San Diego are asked to join together in front of the Federal Building at Noon in a peace protest, condemning the actions of the Dove World Outreach Center and those who choose to follow in their footsteps.

As a sign of peace and respect for all religions, we would represent a united family who stand together regardless of faith, race, sex, nationality, color, and way of life. We represent a family who stands up for our minority brothers and sisters where ever they may be attacked, against any oppressive bully. Please join the family and take the time out of your day on Sept 11th to support those who are being attacked and disrespected.

Hope to see you all there. For more information, contact Kevin Iraniha, denver2345@hotmail.com ___________

Vigil to Support Rights of Muslims at Islamic Center – 5 to 7:30 pm

Join the Unitarian Universalists of the South Bay and others at a vigil at the Islamic Center of San Diego, located at 7050 Eckstrom Ave., from 5:00pm – 7:30pm

Anti-Muslim hate speech and hate crimes are spreading. Stabbings, arson, attacks on mosques, and vitriolic political speech is spinning far out of control. A fringe church in Gainesville, Florida has even announced a planned “Burn a Quran Day” to take place on Sept. 11th. We must take a strong stand and speak out. SUPPORT MUSLIMS IN THE U.S.! Let’s show Muslim families in San Diego County and the world that they have allies! This September 11th the world will know that, in our country, religious freedom is valued and protected.

Let’s join together in raising our voices to affirm the rights of peaceful Muslims in the UNITED States of America, to let them know that they have many allies in our midst!

Bring your signs of support to this vigil and please, please invite others to this event. Love will prevail. Stand on the Side of Love!

NOTE: In addition to the vigil, there will be readings of verses from the Qur’an at several local churches. Here is a link for more information:  http://salsa.democracyinaction.org/o/1272/t/9818/p/salsa/event/common/public/index.sjs?event_KEY=62721

Local Group Declares Sept. 11th “Government Blowback Day” – Noon Rally at USS Midway Museum

The San Diego Complete Liberty Meetup group joins other voluntaryists, private-property anarchists, and libertarians by declaring September 11th a day of remembrance: Government Blowback Day. This September 11, nine years will have passed since the price of the U.S. government’s meddling foreign policy was paid by innocent people. Despite the passing of time, gullible people still believe the Big Lie that was cooked up in the Washington, D.C. “lie factory” – namely, that the terrorists “hate us for our freedom.” What freedom? The spy cameras? Phone and email surveillance? The taxes? The Patriot Act? The paranoia? The promise of endless wars?

At noon on September 11, we will gather at 910 North Harbor Drive in front of the U.S.S. Midway Museum in San Diego. We will remind passersby about the real reasons for the attacks. The terrorists made no secret about it: (1) U.S. government support for the apartheid state of Israel, (2) the presence of U.S. armed forces in Islamic holy places, and (3) U.S.-backed sanctions that killed over 500,000 children in Iraq as of 1996.

The foreign policy of the president and congress was the cause of the attacks. The politicians in Washington, D.C. ignored the warnings of George Washington, John Quincy Adams, and James Madison by pursuing a runaway policy of military aggression abroad. They caused the terrorism but will not take responsibility for it.

From more than 700 military bases located in over 100 countries, the U.S. government continues to sponsor the same activities that triggered the September 11 attacks.  Government Blowback Day is a reminder that government is the problem, not the solution. Join us in remembering – while we still can.

“Noon Peace Protest at Federal Building to Condemn the ‘Burn a Koran Day”

You are aware the FL pastor has called if off. I pretty much figured he would.

Today’s news has him being more equivocal than that and he’s still threatening to do it.

I am an advocate of burning any book which is used to spread ignorance and encourages the subjugation of women. Burning the Bible, the Koran and Sarah Palin’s “Going Rogue” would be a good start.

I’m an advocate of not burring any books no matter what the content. Not a fan of the mob mentality.

“Mob mentality,” I’ve never been a part of a mob. My life experience so far has influenced me toward the” lone suicide bomber mentality. ” I admit that I struggle for mental health in a world that each day appears more and more insane to me.

Early in my life I was introduced to the old saying; the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

I see no hope for our world until humans throw off the shackles of their insanity.

I” see no hope for our world until humans throw off the shackles of their insanity.”

I don’t think book burning is the way to achieve it. I that is and of itself a form of insanity.

See, the insanity never ends.

“There where books are burned, in the end people too are burned.” — Heinrich Heine

Remember, books were one of the first casualties of the NAZI regime when Hitler took control in 1933. May I suggest it is time to see Fahrenheit 451 again.

Sacrilegious Dave did this bit live tonight @ Winston’s OBC. It will be up on you tube tomorrow.
Sacrilegious Dave’s advice for any would be KORAN burners tomorrow. You should have a roaring fire, so tonight take a bunch of TALMUDS AND BIBLES soak them in charcoal lighter fluid. Don’t forget to bring hot dogs.

I saw someone on another site talking about burning a copy of the patriot act. That seems like a rather OB kind of thing to do huh. :D
