This is a letter sent to the Ocean Beach Town Council today, August 30th, requesting that they release their Bylaws and election procedures. I’m asking that the Council send a copy to some of the other community organizations, such as the Mainstreet Association, the Planning Board, or the Historical Society.

President & Directors of the OB Town Council:
On behalf of the OB Rag, its staff, and interested members of the residents, property owners and business owners of Ocean Beach, I hereby request that the Ocean Beach Town Council disclose its Bylaws and Election Procedures to the community. This request is being made in the spirit of community fairness, cooperation, and transparency.
I am requesting that a copy or copies be sent to one or all of the following community organizations: the Ocean Beach Planning Board, the Ocean Beach Mainstreet Association, or the Ocean Beach Historical Society.
Up to now, the Board of Directors of the OB Town Council have not divulged to me exactly which Bylaw my former candidacy for the Board allegedly violated. Neither before my candidacy nor after has a copy of the Bylaws been made available to me. I have to ask how can a potential candidate for the Board know whether she or he is eligible if the Bylaws and/or election procedures are not even made available to potential candidates? And more specifically, how can a former candidate – one who has been declared “ineligible” – verify that his candidacy did in fact violate a bylaw or election procedure without having them be made available?

Please put a copy in our Ocean Beach Library that is located at 4801 Santa Monica Avenue San Diego, CA 92107. Thank you!
Thank you. Bump ^
Holding my breath…
…turning blue in the face…
Checked our Ocean Beach PO box today and nothing was there from the OBTC.
Did you look on their website?
Almost a year later? Seriously?
Hey Joshua, I am sorry if I was flippant…. It’s kind of a sore spot.
Yes, we looked through their website. When Frank requested a copy no one on the council would provide one and they stated that they had no obligation to provide it to the public.
Any civic group that purports to represent a community should be open in all its matters, the very least of which are its bylaws.
Bring it out in the open, folks.
Keep doing it you who are up against the town council. I gave up on them years ago when I realized they were just a cliche. Just know there’s people like me cheering you on from the sidelines!
