A jet flies over Muir Avenue
and a palm tree
scratches her belly.
I am happy to be here today
while the rain gently sweeps
the street
and reminds me that
sunshine ain’t all it’s cracked up to be,
that sunshine itself
is the consumption of sun
as lovers themselves
are the consumption of love.
~~~~~~~~~~~
I am happy to be here today
while Summer rests her weary knees
and lets the rain wash
the soot from the streets.
Let the rains wash
the congestion of our lives.
Let the rains wash
the mildew and the mud.
Let the rains wash
the odor and the throb.
Let the rains wash
the jet fuel that sprinkles like
cracked black pepper over Muir Avenue.
Tireless cascade
Black snow
Wright brothers gone terribly wrong.
nice
Any studies out there on the cracked black pepper and it’s damage to health? I often wonder as I wash it off my patio. I think i’ll make a sticker…..
I think you can pretty much assume it’s fugging up our lungs and who knows what else. Incidentally, Cracked Black Pepper was conceived while cleaning the jet fuel from MY patio furniture. I remember thinking my deck was a salad and somebody sprinkled pepper all over it.
Jet soot is the great unknown in OB. Everybody gets it, but many don’t know it’s there or here. Nobody talks about it and it’s never been a public issue. Maybe it’s time ….
Maybe……I know my lemons were covered in it. They are literally black on the top half until washed off.
Ed, BTW, great, thanks, come back anytime. Got any more?
I have tons more, shall I send?
Yes please!
I loved this one!
I just noticed today a black pepper residue on my outdoor medical cannabis plant. I was trying to figure out where it came from because the black spots (which I thought at first were pest) were not pests on the leaves. Now I’m thinking it’s jet soot. Maybe that’s why MMJ is sooo strong in OB?
