UPDATE: 9 PM : Apparently there was a stabbing in and around the restrooms at the west end of Dusty Rhodes Park late this afternoon. (Please see the comments below for more updates.)
OB: Just received a report of police patrol cars and roped-off public bathrooms on the west side of Dusty Rhodes Park. There’s four police cars on the grass and the facilities have the yellow-caution tape strung around them.
This does not sound good.
If any one is in the area and checks it out, please update us.

Nothing on the scanner so far.
took a stroll through the park a minute ago to see what i would see. only 1 patrol car left with 2 officers there taking photos and such. looked like some people had been hanging out under the gazebo (not bums, trolls or anything of the sort!) then someone got stabbed a few feet away. still beer cans and stuff on the table. saw a pile of clothes soaked in blood outside the bathroom. didn’t bother asking the cops questions, looked like they still had an eye out for a perp.

A couple were at the park….something broke out between the two males……one stabbed another in the chest…..then he ran….might have left his car at the park….Police were waiting for who ever owned the last car to come back and get it…..The man who got stabbed was taken to the hospital via EMTs …..A good size pile of bloody goods left behind…..
The couple ran to in front of my friend’s house, left a knife in our neighbors yard, and kept running. We called the police and they showed up, got the knife, etc and then took off. Last I heard, another neighbor of mine saw the same cops apprehending two people who fit our description.
Saw it all, do you mean your description of yourselves or your descriptions of those that you had seen? I suspect the second.
Those we had seen burying the knife. It really was a pity that knife was used for evil, because it was really beautiful. I suspect pretty one of a kind, too, because I couldn’t find anything like it online.
Did you handle it – like putting your prints all over it?? LOL
No, we dug it up with ice cream spoons and handled it in a bag (like you would dog poop). I had just watched about 3 hours of murder mysteries on TV before it happened, so we were very careful not to touch it.

The police hung around my house for a while afterward, and said that the guy they had attacked was stabbed in the upper arm a couple times, but was going to make a full recovery. Apparently he was a bit of a white supremacist and had a pretty shady background?
white supremacist? interesting you say that, just last week i was hanging out down at santa cruz beach, soaking up the clouds, with about 3 or 4 other people there. with no sun out, one of the guys had his shirt off while he was hanging out drinking beer. lots of white power tats being shown off, swastikas, SS, the whole 9 yards. maybe instead of trolls we’re getting nazis now?
This is certainly one thing we do not need in OB.
Tolerance–yes; but racism is tolerance’s antithesis.
Other than making no gestures to make these people feel welcome, I am not sure what one can do about this.
Even shunning them may have no impact since sociopaths such as these tend to have little concern of what society thinks of them.
There have been a few around as long as I’ve been here – I don’t like boneheads, but as with anyone else I don’t bother them if they don’t bother me.

My friend and I were at the shine once when 3 guys with bald heads sat next to us.(my friend is bald,i keep my hair buzzed).After tlking for a bit one leaned over close and asked if i was “skin”(skinhead). They’ve been around here for awhile folks.Not a whole lot of minorities in OB so I guess thats what attracts them to it and lets them feel comfy sportin their hate tats.I doubt they’d walk around Barrio Logan with their shirts off.

Everyone talking about Nazis – yeah, they’re around, mostly on the fringe of OB society. I don’ t think there are any more or any less than 10 or 15 years ago…
