FX filming 6-13-10 jg 02

by Jim Grant / June 13, 2010

On Sunday, June 13th, a 20 something young man decided to walk and swim naked on the beach during filming at the OB Pier.

(FX filming 6-13-10 jg 01Editor: “Firefly” is the name of the company that was shooting the promotional stills and video for the show “Terriers”. It’s nothing to do with the show “Firefly”.) FX was filming a show which was originally thought to be “Firefly” the derailed sci-fi series, and they had a crew of 40-50 members with at least as many onlookers, when the young man stripped off his clothes, walked on the beach for awhile, and then went into the water. He was in the water just for awhile, and then he tried to climb up a barnacle encrusted concrete pier support but to no avail.

SD Lifeguards and EMT finally corralled the guy.  They wrapped him in a bright YELLOW blanket they use to cover dead bodies.

FX filming 6-13-10 jg 03After talking to him on the beach, they placed the slightly dazed and confused guy on a stretcher and took him to the hospital for observation. Well, it seemed like a good idea before the SDPD showed up !!!

Not the sci-fi Firefly ( on Fox) in 2002? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firefly_(TV_series)

I was more excited by the mention of Firefly than another drunk guy swimming naked. Tell us more, Jim… is it THE Firefly? I thought FX was only filming Terriers in OB.

I saw the same signs today near the Masonic Center. Big yellow signs that said Firefly and an arrow directing what I assume would be production workers on where to go. Interesting. Wonder what’s up with that?

Maybe it’s code for Terriers?

Found this: http://www.reddit.com/r/scifi/comments/cexoe/this_article_is_completely_unremarkable_until_the/

Sounds like it might be a code word for something else… like Terriers? LOL

Pity though, I was a huge Firefly fan ;)

Terriers sounds like it could be pretty decent, I’ll give it a shot for sure.

Looked everywhere to see if Firefly was returning to the FX channel. Appears FX was filming a new TV show in Ocean Beach called “Terriers” starring Donal Logue (The Tao of Steve, Damages) and Michael Raymond-James (True Blood).

Another site has an article about the filming of “Terriers” at other locations in San Diego such as Spanish Village in Balboa Park. Here’s the link: http://www.examiner.com/x-28151-Balboa-Park-Examiner~y2010m4d6-Shooting-for-FX-Series-Terriers-to-Take-Place-at-Spanish-Village

Scott, we’ve known and experienced the filming of Terriers and this blog has posted several articles about the filming. Do a search on our search bar for Terriers.

Frank: Thanks for the heads up on the OB Rag articles. Makes sense this site would have info on the filming of the show. Just on automatic and went to Google instead of searching here.

WOW—So the lifeguards did it the smart way this time, and avoided 25 of San Diego’s finest ZOOMING into OB @ 85MPH.
