Rep Darrel Issa to Hold Town Hall Meeting in Vista Tonight – Will the Gun-Toters Appear?

Local Congressman Darrel Issa appears to be trying to capture the right-wing momentum sputtering here and there at town hall meetings across the nation.  He all of a sudden announced that he, too, is holding a health care reform town hall meeting – this one is tonight in Vista.

The conservative politician will be trying to capture national attention, no doubt, by having a forum for his right-wing views and by giving right-wing extremists a platform from which to spew their hatred, racism, and ignorance.

The town hall meeting will be held at Rancho Buena Vista High School, at 1601 Longhorn Drive, to begin at 6:30pm.

Vista is so close to Escondido, home of the gun-totin’ modern day gunslingers who have received some local media attention by staging very small “rallies” of gun toters.  Maybe they will show up.  Then Vista and San Diego can have equal time showing off as wingnut centers.

Will the left show up? Too little notice, not enough motivation could very well lessen the progressives’ ranks at this town hall meeting.  It will be interesting to compare the Susan Davis event held this past Saturday in Spring Valley with tonight’s circus.  At that event on August 29th, progressives did out-number conservatives. But tonight is another story – north San Diego County is traditionally a strong hold for conservatism.

Rep. Darrell Issa said, quoted in Politico, that Republicans will be bringing back the heat from home. Arguing that a calm political environment favors the party in power, Issa vowed to create the opposite in September.

“If [the Democrats] give us lemons, we want to make very loud lemonade,” he said.

Doug has just reminded me that guns are not allowed – empty or otherwise – within 1000 feet of any school. I guess that decides that. Hopefully, they – the gun-totters will know the law cough-cough and respect it. And if they don’t I hope the security tonight will know the law.

from today’s Sacramento Bee:

The UC Davis Violence Prevention program will release a report today that claims guns shows are a major source of weapons used in crimes.

The report, “Inside Guns Shows: What Goes on When Everybody Thinks Nobody’s Looking,” includes hundreds of hidden-camera photographs and video taken at 78 guns shows in 19 states.

The report says that guns shows are now a leading source of weapons used by criminals in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The report also links guns show and extreme right-wing political action.

I am counting the days until I have the right to bear arms in CA. Where I am from crime is low because, well, most people have guns.

The house doors are unlocked and most car keys are above the visor. If you enter a property or car when you are not supposed to then you may soon be staring at a barrel, and rightly so.

We need to give the people of CA the rights to carry guns. Think of the population control aspects. Throw that in with mandatory motorcycles as your vehicle and the positive impact on the genetic strength of this part of the country will flourish.

Just what we need. Shawn Conrad on a motorcycle with a gun. That would make me feel the opposite of safe Shawn. No offense. Please don’t shoot. ;)

I’m signed up for his newsletter, as much as I hated doing it, but I wanted to know when he was holding his town halls. So I’ll be there. By myself, unfortunately, but can’t chicken out. Lets see if I get a chance to voice my opinion. He needs to know that not everyone in North County is a right-winger.

I was there. Issa says a whole lot of nothing.

I was not placed on this planet to make people feel safe. I was placed on this planet to make people rethink themselves, and to instill the chaos that encompasses hanging out with me.

Also, if you are scared of the thought of me with a gun all the better. See how that works? Now you’ll steer clear of my yard.

Proof positive that guns work.

So a fight ensued at a health care town hall, and a senior on Medicare – who was PROTESTING reform – had his finger bitten off, re-attached the same night, and sent home.

So let me reiterate – a guy on PUBLIC health care protesting reform that would give OTHER people the same coverage he has, has an emergency situation, was treated immediately with top-level care (I mean, he had his finger re-attached), and sent home that night.

What the hell is this guy protesting? Does he not see the irony? This is what we’re up against: people with no common decency, no common sense, no understanding….and a whole lot of hatred in their hearts.

Lane,

Stupid cannot be fixed, except with guns.

Yes. Kill stupid people. Good idea Shawn. We’re having a problem “fixing” the homeless situation downtown too. Oh, and there are a few neo-con’s I’ve seen at these rally’s that need fixin’. This is a great idea. Solid mentality.

Efficiency and progress is ours once more
Now that we have the neutron bomb
Its nice and quick and clean and gets things done
Away with excess enemy
But no less value to property
No sense in war but perfect sense at home

The sun beams down on a brand new day
No more welfare tax to pay
Unsightly slums gone up in flashing light
Jobless millions whisked away
At last we have more room to play
All systems go to kill the poor tonight

Gonna
Kill kill kill kill kill the poortonight

Behold the sparkle of champagne
The crime rates gone
Feel free again
O lifes a dream with you, miss lily white
Jane fonda on the screen today
Convinced the liberals its okay
So lets get dressed and dance away the night

While they
Kill kill kill kill kill the poor tonight

Guns don’t scare me, but I can’t say the same thing for the thought of certain people cradling them.

Hey Frank, I love the picture of Issa, it looks like he’s ready to hurl on his own bile…still, I have to wonder if “the middle” was organizing anything last night? We’re pretty unorganized as well.

Wow, who knew Shawn was such a “hard guy?” Reminds me of the bikers in Arizona I 1st saw in the early ‘70’s with their rifles across their handlebars, a little unnerving at first but you get used to it…just don’t want to shoot your mouth off (so to speak) Hey man, I may not agree with you but I will defend your right to have an opinion. Hope that’s a 2-way street.

Lane, great point that wasn’t lost on me…but don’t forget that when you have one finger bitten off pointing at someone else, you have three more pointing back at you, that are ready to be bitten off too…

JC quoting from the book of the DK’s, may I have an Amen?…May I have a Halleluiah?

Jon,

Get your balls out of your boyfriend’s purse and stop being such a pussy.

Just like Y2K when I stocked bullets instead of batteries. Why? Because Suzy Creamcheese and her doting husband have batteries and water stored up next door, but they have no protection.

I miss my shotgun and pistol holders that used to be mounted on my motorcycle, but here in the land of “hugs fix everything” it just isn’t possible for me.

Shawn…you’re sinking to ever-new lows. Your comment about Chris Bowd was nasty too. I know you’re troll-ish and like to rile people up on the internet, but I’m starting to feel sorry for you more than mad at you. Good thing you stocked up on ammo for Y2k. I’m sure that came in handy when nothing happened. Loser.

Jon,

I look forward to our next meeting face to face. Wear head gear.

by the way…..Headgear because you are retarded and for nop other reason.

I just want to give you a change to say “Loser” to my face if your boyfriend can lease your balls to you for a minute or two.

Let me know!

Shawn- congratulations for being the “Un-Pussy.” So this really isn’t about 2nd amendment rights, nor about protection from- Y2K???? Or the right to blow away Bambi’s daddy? Bet you thank god every morning that you weren’t born a woman, or queer, before you grab your…gun. Raging hormones Shawn- they can reduce an otherwise decent human being to an out of control maniac not fit to serve on the Supreme Court!

Just joking. It’s really about Jon. Jon, Jon, Jon.

I guess it gets my goat that the constitution contains text about me being able to carry a gun yet cannot.

I look, but cannot see the gray area.

Am I being close minded?

well, shane, the constitution contains text about me being able to have freedom of speech and freedom of press yet don’t.

Bob,

Speak up. I am listening. What can’t you say? I might be willing to go say it on your behalf. If you are soft spoken I might be able to be your big stick.

Take this test:

If you are not making waves, you are not rowing hard enough

or

Good rowers never make waves

There is no wrong answer.
