Organizers are urging constituents of US House Rep Susan Davis to attend a forum on healthcare reform tonight – Tuesday, August 11th.  Organizers say Rep Davis will be talking to constituents and gathering feedback and that “this is an ideal opportunity to make sure your support for health insurance reform is seen and heard at exactly the right time.”

Rep Susan Davis represents several San Diego communities including Ocean Beach.

Our congressional representatives are back home this month, and they’re facing more and more pressure from special interests on health insurance reform. It’s critical that we get out there and show them where we stand.

This was sent:

Our representatives are under attack by Washington insiders, insurance companies, and well-financed special interests who don’t go a day without spreading lies and stirring up fear. We need to show that we’re sick and tired of it, and that we’re ready for real change, this year.

Please come to the forum, and make sure that the most powerful voices in this debate are those calling for real reform, not angrily clamoring for the status quo.  Please arrive early; space is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

People are asked to RSVP here. (By 8:20 am 8/11 210 people had already RSVP’ed.)

Where: Joyce Beers Community Center
4065 Vermont Street
San Diego, CA 92103

When: Tuesday, August 11th
Arrival Time: 5:30 p.m.
Start Time: 6:30 p.m.

Doubt you will publish this or refrain from deleting… I am sure you approve of censorship as long as it is YOUR message…

Right Wing Thugs!? I would say that the SEIU has more thugs than the “right wing” – Their beating of a Pro-Democracy protester the other night was clear evidence… Seems like if you disagree with this administration then you are “un-American” or in Nancy Pelosi’s words “A Nazi!” Wow – sounds like we have pro-democracy folks in Washington now… Obama and his crew are 100% about control… they said they would “Push back twice as hard” – so I guess when things get physical it was because the mandate came from Obama and EMU himself…

Democrats are lost in this debate – look at the plummeting poll numbers – America elected a clueless center piece from the FAR left liberal mob, and now they are being exposed to his lies and hypocrisy. I CANNOT wait until this country rights the ship in 2010 and removes the mistake in 2012!

A walking bridge to somewhere brings into view people queued up chatting amicably: A tall, big boned and hefty man in a doctor’s smock shows aging Celtic curls atop a kind, weathered face. He wants “something like they have in Canada”. A woman smiles, hazel eyes with smiling crow’s feet, her Mediterranean skin picks up the late afternoon sun as she moves along the line in her motorized wheelchair with a sign that read, “My insurance company cut me off”.

The town hall meeting was underway inside as the shout-alog ebbed and flowed between the curbside gauntlet run by shoppers driving home, SDPD and local news media. A man wearing a faded OB Rag T-shirt walked by. Wanting for a guitarist, the occasional attempts at sing-alongs gave way to familiar chants. A man with a little bullhorn yelled “No socialism” – our crowd didn’t pick up on the response “Let’s socialize.” “He’s got Medicare!” intermingled with hearty laughter. Good Medicine, indeed..

Great rally, very strong support of healthcare reform. Only a few dissenters and the majority of people there were for either HR3200 and would support HR676 if only they thought it had a chance… it still does! Check out “medicare for all” at http://www.pnhp.org for more info. :)

a hat tip to wcvarones, a right wing blog that has credited the rag with the large pro healthcare turnout this evening. there’s no link here because it doesn’t merit one. we read this crap so you don’t have to!
