San Diego County Crime Stoppers and detectives from SDPD Western Division are asking for assistance from the public in determining how a man was seriously injured on July 4, 2009 in Ocean Beach.

On July 4 at about 11 p.m. SDPD dispatchers received a call from a citizen saying that he found a man who had sustained a head injury and was unconscious in the 1800 block of Bacon Street. Western Division patrol officers located 44-year-old Christopher Bowd at the scene and paramedics transported him to a local hospital. The officers searched for evidence of a crime scene but found none. They also spoke with individuals who were in the area at the time but no one had information as to who or what caused Bowd’s injuries.

Bowd has not regained consciousness since the night of the attack and remains at a local hospital.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on this incident to call SDPD Western Division at (619) 692-4800 or the Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at (888) 580-8477. Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $1,000 reward to anyone with information that leads to an arrest in this case. Anonymous email and text messages can be sent in via www.sdcrimestoppers.com.
