Producer Chuck Schiele and the OB Mainstreet Association (OBMA) joined forces this year to produce a CD called “Waves” featuring bands based in Ocean Beach with songs about life in our community.

They are hosting a CD release party this Friday (July 17th) at the Masonic Temple, located at the corner of Santa Monica St. & Sunset Cliffs Blvd.

Doors will open at 6pm; assorted performers featured on the release will start performing at 8pm. There is no cover charge for this event, but they would like to get an idea of how many people to expect, so if you can RSVP via their Facebook page, it would be appreciated. Food and Beverages will be for sale at the event, with OB merchants Hodads, Pizza Port, and Beach Sweets (among others) providing food booths on site.

Bands confirming their appearances at the event as of presstime were: Steve Phillips and the Pescadero Pickers, Blackbirdz, Bad Science Fiction, John Miller and the Payback Meld, Chi Club, Chuck Edwards, Coco and Lafe, Danyavaad and the Shimmy Sisters & John Gorski.

The Waves CD project was an outgrowth of the OBMA’s 30th annual Street Festival. Copies of the CD will be available for purchase on the evening of the event. They are also selling the CD at the OBMA offices and various merchants throughout Ocean Beach.

For more information, send an email here. The OBRag will be covering this party. You can read our review of the CD here.

Thanks to Chuck and the OBMA for putting together such a cool showcase for local OB talent! FYI- Chuck, David Ybarra and myself will be performing today (7/15) at the Farmer’s market. Don’t really know what we are gonna play but it will be interesting!

AND……I have 7 copies of “The Journeymen” CD that features “Forever Obecian”.

The CDs are limited-edition and I will let them go for $10 apiece.

Thanks again for helping to create the best community ever!

That CD release party should be a lot of fun, and it’s within walking (or should I say “rocking”) distance.

Think I’m gonna have to go check out the “Chuck David Billy Ray Experience” today too! You guys gonna be down at the Bacon St. end?
