AHIP (America’s Health Insurance Plans) is having their annual meeting in San Diego this week. Nurses from the California Nurses Association and allies from groups like Physicians for a National Health Program and Progressive Democrats of America will be there to greet them – of course!
For those who don’t know, AHIP is the trade association and main lobbying arm of the health insurance industry – more commonly known as the murder-by-spreadsheet industry.
Last year AHIP came to San Francisco and they were met in real California style. You can read about it here in one of nyceve’s excellent and moving diaries. I was lucky enough to be there and it was a memorable experience. We need to let the industry feel some heat and we need to bring attention to the single-payer cause and why more insurance is not the answer to America’s health care holocaust. If you are near enough and have a little free time on Thursday morning, here are the details:
