Balls Of Steele – The Fight Inside The GOP

Michael Steele and Rush Limbaugh are the new Paris and Nicole.

For those of you who haven’t been following the news for the last few days, there’s been a nasty little spat between the newly elected Chairman of the RNCC and a certain talk show radio host. They’re saying it’s all over now, but I beg to disagree.

Michael Steele has to figure out a way past the Grand Old Party’s dismal legislative posturing in the face of an overwhelmingly popular President who may be even more Teflon coated than Saint Ronnie.

You could almost feel sorry for Steele. His job is to spray air freshener in the GOP latrine. All he has to do is take a party that has traditionally been headed by white males and turn it into a party dedicated to promoting the interests of a small class of white plutocrats by demonizing minorities, gays and the poor except that it’s now nominally headed by a black man.

Rush ‘the entertainer’ Limbaugh is the guy the GOP can’t live with and cannot live without. They have an abusive codependent relationship. If he stays, nobody rational wants to join the GOP, but if he leaves, the party’s base leaves with him.

Given Rush’s spectacular success with Operation Chaos, his secret plan to disrupt the Democratic party and hand the elections to the Republicans, I think we should all do everything in our power to see that he continues to provide the leadership that can only come from a Dominican Republic sex tourist.

Lately, the Rushbo has been trying to convince his listeners that there is a liberal conspiracy to impose the old “equal time” provisions on radio. As with many of the issues that he opts to energize his audiences about, there is only tiniest grain of truth there. It’s likely that there are more Republican legislators that support marijuana legalization then there are Democrats who favor restoration of the equal time standards.

Personally, I do not want equal time. If anything, give Rush even more time. Not that you have to listen.

According to a survey (commissioned by the Democrats) Limbaugh’s overall approval ratings are even lower than the Rev. Jeremiah Wright and William Ayers. So I’d be willing to bet that all this publicity he’s been getting lately is being directed by a certain mr carville, the bald-headed lizard looking rajun cajun. not that there’s anything wrong with being bald.

and if you feel the need to send your apologies to rushbo (since everybody else is doing it) here’s a handy link for a preprinted “apologize to rush” form

RUSH TO JUDGMENT…. Doug- terrific piece! Jon Stewart has some incisive wickedly funny segments on his March 2nd and 3rd shows at http://www.dailyshow.com

Can’t wait to see how this plays out with the repugnicans. Maybe all the infighting and all around lack of viability and vision will result in a party so small that it can be drowned in a teacup. Poetic justice, don’t you think?
