Frank and I with my camera at the ready strolled down to Newport last evening to catch a glimpse of the OB Holiday parade and rub elbows with some of our neighbors. We took in the lights and sounds at the intersection with Sunset Cliffs. Meanwhile our good friend and photographer, Jeff Stone, had his camera at the other end of Newport, down near the end of the parade.  Between the two of us, we captured the breadth of the event. This year’s Parade Theme: Peace.

For the second time in 2 years, the group OBGO was not in the parade, as the group has fallen to the wayside. When we did have a float or march in the parade, we were the only one or we were one of only two floats with a peace sign. Now, everyone had a peace sign. That’s great. Peace was the theme, for a change.

What a great night in OB! The past few years I was fortunate enough to be in the parade with some close friends. This year we were even more fortunate just to watch and hang out with all of our friends and neighbors! Always a great time. How about those kids hula hooping on unicycles!!?? I can’t do either, let alone both at the same time! What fun! I love OB!!!

The kids were great Jon, just about blew me away. But I do have a thing for the bagpipes. I even recorded a bit of it on my phone. Hmmmm…. wonder if I can post the audio clip?

Did anyone get photos of the big green dinosaur “Dinosaurous”?
It would be really cool if we could see photos of all the winners of each category.
Also an on line photo album of each years parade, maybe a contest for the best photos would motivate people to send in their photos.
You could post a notice in the OBeacon, your web site, Yelp Etc.

Kelly – I think not that green dino pics were taken. Nice ideas. We checked out your web site and found wondrous art, and I do remember the Herb Store. Thanks for visiting, come back often.
