Blackwater has quit! Yeah! We have been notified by several friends that Blackwater has pulled their application for a mercenary training camp in Potrero, about an hour outside of San Diego. As Patty said, “all right! One small victory!” Here’s the link to SignOn SanDiego’s article from today.

AWESOME NEWS—When I go to camp I want to go back east. It would be depressing to be in a camp Gitmo in OB. It is bad enough to have to drink beer at the camp Gitmo drinking compound in the parking lot at the end of Newport on July 4th.

We won one for our side! Despite what Blackwater parrots say, they quit due to public pressure, people power, the recall effort which was successful — thanks to all those dear folks in Potrero — and to the October rally/ march, and to politicians like Rep Bob Filner. and especial thanks to the grassroots efforts of everyone!
The activists won this battle. The grassroots opposition turned Blackwater around. I’m guessing they will try again in a few years. Blackwater said they spent $1 million on this project. That’s enough to grease a lot of San Diego politicians.
