Popadick screen save

Screen save from white-supremacist Popaditch supporter's video, which calls for "armed rebellion." Pictured in screen save is tea party pol Nick Popaditch.

UPDATE: Filner told CityBeat that Popaditch shoved him. (see below)

Popaditch supporter calls for ‘armed rebellion’ after electoral defeat.

The incident the other night at Election Central at Golden Hall where defeated tea bagger Nick Popaditch and his supporters corralled, harassed, and shoved the winner of the Congressional race Bob Filner up against a column, has not been covered by the mainstream media. Except for the OB Rag, the San Diego CityBeat, East County Magazine, and the Chula Vista Star News, San Diego and national press have ignored this violent and anti-Semitic incident against a sitting member of the US House of Representatives.  (The OB Rag – with the help of CityBeat and others – broke this story.)

The story also has even more ugliness and a deep undertone of white supremacy.  Filner beat Popaditch by twenty percentage points in the 51st Congressional District race.

Apparently, Popaditch has some white supremacist supporters – one of whom has posted a video about the incident and calls for “armed rebellion.”

It has also come out that Popaditch supporters yelled anti-Semitic chants at Filner – who is Jewish – spit on him, and in general caused the most violence ever witnessed at Golden Hall in the  aftermath of local elections.

Dave Maass of San Diego CityBeat has been following this story and filed this report, along with new a new vid.

As Maass points out, there is irony in the fact that Popaditch has Nazi-like supporters while being surrounded himself the night of the incident by Asian bodyguards.

We at the OB Rag are trying to track down part of the story from the other night that Popaditch himself shoved Filner.  Supposedly, a member of Filner’s staff witnessed this violent behavior by a tea party politician, and repeated what they saw to others – two of whom have emailed us. I spoke to the staff person this morning, but they could not talk to the press.  I’m currently waiting for either an interview with Representative Filner or more of his staff to flush out this story.

Apparently, according to the East County Magazine:

“Filner told CityBeat that he was shoved by Popaditch.”

Meanwhile, Filner is not hiding, as he is out there in the community and will be attending an event Saturday morning.

I like the dismissal of the Pilipino , and Hispanic people that were missed in the video. Did anyone catch the blond that was shoved by a Filner Supporter?

Lots of Bias here.

There was no comment in the post about the ethnic make-up of Popaditch’s supporters only to note that at one point he was surrounded by 3 (Asian) bodyguards. We tried to also point out the irony in that some of his supporters are white-supremacists at the same time.

Oh, BTW for you WW II history buffs, did you notice that the Nazis allied with two non-Aryan nations, despite their rhetoric, you know, the Italians and the Japanese. The 3 powers formally organized the Axis. Meanwhile, at that time, the Japanese were spinning to other Asians that they were gonna kick the whites out of Asia. History is full of ironies.

Okay, but Byrd came to renounce those types of supporters. Popaditch embraces them.

LYAO- What did you expect??? All the crap got started by the Nazi supporters and the “LOSER” Popaditch to begin with!!! Of course there was going to be some shoving by someone. You didn’t expect for one of the Filner supporters to just stand there and put up and watch those idiots attacking our Congressman!!!

I just added that East County Magazine also reported on this story. In fact, they ran a great summary of the incident : http://eastcountymagazine.org/node/4690

Maybe this is what Popadictch was upset about:

Veterans of Foreign Wars-PAC Endorses Bob Filner for Congress Print E-mail
Written by Imperial Valley News
Thursday, 14 October 2010
Imperial, California – The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States (VFW) PAC has announced its endorsement of Congressman Bob Filner over Republican Candidate Nick Popaditch for the 2010 General Election. The VFW-PAC becomes the most recent veterans group to endorse Congressman Filner.

“The VFW-PAC’s endorsement of Congressman Filner was based on his strong support for veterans, national security and defense, and military personnel issues,” said Salvatore J. Capirchio, Veterans of Foreign War-PAC Director. “My proudest service in Congress is being Chairman of the Veterans Affairs Committee. Veterans have made incredible sacrifices for our country and they should be able to depend on the health care and pensions promised by our Government!” said Congressman Filner.
The VFW-PAC represents the nation’s 2.1 million veterans and their families and provides them with the opportunity to support candidates for federal office who support veterans. VFW-PAC is also the nation’s only major Veterans Service Organization PAC.

Another tidbit from Mother Jones:
Three dollars and thirty-seven cents. That’s the average benefit an individual on government food stamps receives each day, according to the USDA. Here in DC, it’s enough to buy, say, a box of cereal or a head of lettuce or a couple cans of beans. Would you call that $3.37 a day “too darn comfortable”?

Nick Popaditch, a Republican House candidate in California and retired Marine, did just that last week in a debate with opponent Rep. Bob Filner (D-Calif.). As Think Progress reported, an audience member at the debate asked Popaditch how, if elected, he would ensure there were “no further cuts are made to the food stamp benefits.” I’ll bet the questioner didn’t expect this response:

What would I do to make sure no further cuts are made to food stamp benefits? Wow. Once again, I recognize there’s a difference between an entitlement and a promise. Now that would fall under the category of an entitlement. Now I believe in a safety net, but I certainly don’t think we need to make it too darn comfortable down there on that safety net. I’m not a cruel man, but I think we absolutely need to make these systems not as comfortable as they are now.

I saw the video and it is disgusting to hear those idiot morons, yelling “Jew”.
Seriously, I am glad Popaditch lost and I would NEVER support him in any future
runnings…

So just in case this guy comes around here, I just saw this “unedited video” claiming to have proof that nothing untoward happened that night. It was actually really nice of him to provide video of how it started so you can see everybody making a beeline for filner (around 3:37.)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JoA5k9VPX0c

But the real payoff is at 3:40, where you can see a tall person with a white t-shirt, red suspenders, and shorts, holding up a Popaditch sign. That is Aurick the Great White Elf.

(seen in his own video of the mob here, starting at 2:15)

Maybe a change in the legal/political system is warranted. Criminal Ignorance, Felony Stupid??? But seriously, what kind of action do you take against those who seek to use violence and intimidation as an electoral tactic? Don’t equivocate here! Apparently there’s a shift towards the overt expression of force as an means of political speech. The facist danger is assuming a human face (Mr. Popabitch.) Might this just be a tip of the recent Supreme Court decision regarding politacal $peech? What’s next for our country? Get ready for 2012! I’m ready to fight-back by all means necessary…are you?
