Judi’s Jams – Sweetness Abounds!
Has the ”Widder” Given Up on Men?
Or
“What is She Doing Now?”
For years I have been making jam from the variety of fruit trees growing in my yard. And, for those same years I have been giving it away. I enjoy cooking – hence my two cookbooks – and I have enjoyed pairing together a variety of fruits that one cannot usually purchase in the stores. This year I have made a variety of jams using wines and liquors that have sparked an interest in those receiving them and several people have suggested that I sell the finished product.
Because I enjoy making them – it takes my mind off of other things, like “on-line dating”, I have been reluctant to sell them, but the cost of the mason jars has gone up so much this year that I am forced to either stop making jam, find a seller of the jars that is reasonable, or begin charging for the finished product. I didn’t want to stop making it; I can’t find a reasonable outlet to purchase the jars; so charging has become the solution. This is what I have decided to do:
Depending on the type of jam – see the order list – they will sell for $7-8 each. I will donate $1 to the OBRag and/or the San Diego Free Press for each jar sold (depending on the area that purchases the jam); And….if you bring back the jars – hopefully for a “refill” I will take 50 cents a jar off the total of your next purchase. I view this as a “win-win” for all of us.
The jam is limited; when I run out of that particular kind it is gone. But….I will be making more as the trees bear fruit. My peach tree is already loaded with little peaches, and last year I made several different varieties of peach jam – some spicy; some I mixed with red raspberries – that’s all gone; etc. When I say I have “limited editions” it is truly that – limited.
Let’s give it a try, San Diegans. The worst that can happen is that I don’t stay out of trouble; the best I can do is please your palate beyond taste. The first sales will be available on Friday, February 21st. My doggie’s birthday! (Mine too.)
Here is the Jam Order Form, you can print it out or download it in a word document.

Looking for empty 1/2 pint jam jars; if you have too much fruit we can work out a deal and you can have “the runt of the litter.” And…if you have too much wine – well, I can use that too!
Having been the recipient of many of the different kinds of jam that Judi makes, I can attest to how delicious they are. I loved a spiced peach, the apple, and I am hoarding a pear with apricot liquer. It’s sooo good that I don’t want to share it or for the jar to be empty. I only mentioned three kinds, but I haven’t had a one that wasn’t absolutely tasty. Picture an English muffin, warm from the toaster, slathered with butter and Judi’s Jam. That and a cup of hot coffee is heaven on earth.
Way to go Judi!
Thanks, Ro. Your description makes ME hungry for an English muffin and some jam! Have you thought about being a writer?
Yes, Judi, I’ve thought about it, but never seriously. I’m too busy doing other creative things (ha ha).
More jam, please!
Might I add, congratulations! Wham-bam, thank you, jam! Hey, what better way to bait the hook for some handsome jam lover!
Hey Judi, I have a tree that’s loaded with Loquats, they should be ripe in another month or so, if you’re interested.
Have never tried Loquat jam before. I’m game. Thanks. Let me know when they are ready to be picked!
Judi
Great!! I will, these are pretty good ones usually, large and sweet.
P.S. I will keep my eyes open for any Mason jars, too. I’ll see if my mom might have any.
Thanks, Debra. The price of the 1/2 pint jars have gone up almost half since last year.
Judi
Hi Judi, the loquats are ripe and ready to be picked!!!
Hi Judi, I’ll help pick them with you. I’ve never picked (or even seen) a loquat but I’m game to help.
Ro
I know where you live, why didn’t I buy some when I visited?
PS
At first I thought I had to continue taking the math tests at the bottom, then I figured out not to press the circle!
