OB Deadguy blackout 7-15-14UPDATE: Police have confirmed a deceased man was found at the beach. There was nothing suspicious, no evidence of foul play, and the case has been referred to the Medical Examiner’s Office.

The name of the deceased: Bobbie James Stinnett.

_________

Was a man found dead the other day at the beach in OB?

There was nothing in the news about it.

This photo appears to state that. (We have covered up his head.)

On or about the 15th of this month, this photo was taken of a man stretched out on the sand near the seawall at the end of Newport Avenue next to the Pier Parking lot appearing not to have any life in him.  A wheel chair is near by.

San Diego Police have confirmed that a deceased male individual was found.  We have a call into the detective who is handling the matter.

Last Tuesday (I think) I went to Rite-Aid and homeless guy and a girl asked me for cash to buy candles to make a memorial for their friend. They told me they woke up and their friend (a man) was dead. I figured this was bs, that they would be talking to the police or something if this happened, I even checked the news that night to see if a homeless man had been found in OB. I guess they were telling the truth.

I hope Bobbie’s last hour on the beach was pleasant. I hope he heard the sounds of the waves, the seagulls, happy beach goers. Most of us will end up in a hospital with the beep beep of machines monitoring our vitals; not that I believe we should head for the pier for our last hours, far from it.
I would have bought a candle for Bobbie’s memory. That’s the way OBceans are, for pity’s sake.

While your first sentiments are lovely it sounds like you are criticizing me for not buying a candle for someone I didn’t think existed. That sounds awfully unobeacean to me, for pity’s sake. It seemed fake they would leave their friend alone and go to rite aid. I offered them granola bars, as I do every homeless person who asks me for money.

I’m upset this isn’t something that was originally reported, that it wasn’t deemed important enough to be news. I’m appreciating to the OB Rag for sharing it with us.

No bueno on the picture being included with this article. Would be pretty traumatic for any of his loved ones to see that, I think. RIP, homie.

A person dies on the beach, and it was how far away from the Police substation? 100 feet maybe?
