Flash to the Past: Original OB Rag Covers

in Media, OB Flashes!, OB Time Machine, Ocean Beach

As you probably know, this blog is named after the original OB People’s Rag, an underground or alternative community newspaper that flourished in Ocean Beach during the first  half of the Seventies.

It’s fun and interesting to view the evolution of the newspaper’s covers, as they reflected what was going on in OB at the time and what was on the minds of its all-volunteer citizen journalist staff.

So, sit back, keep your hands on the keyboard and flash through some of OB’s past.

Click on the images below to see a larger, legible version. Oh, and by the way, most of these original issues are available for a donated purchase. See here for more details.

Thanks for posting these, Frank! I remember the first time I cruised by the Rag’s website, when most of the news was still sourced instead of provided by a rather impressive stable of local writers – these old scans kept me coming back for a couple weeks until I’d read everything that had been scanned. If anyone here hasn’t checked out the whole archive, let me say it’s well worth your time.
