Large sections of area beaches remain closed due to a huge sewage spill on Sunday, Dec 1. Dog Beach is included in the list of closed beaches.  Also parts of South Mission Beach.  The spill was caused by nearly 22,000 gallons contaminating the San Diego River near I-15.

Warning signs were posted Sunday by lifeguards on Sunday; surfers, swimmers and others are warned not to enter the waters due to the contamination.

County Health Department officials made the orders to close the selected beaches.

The boundaries include north and south of Mission Bay channels, the northern end of Ocean Beach and the area near South Mission Beach Jetty.

At what time did the spill start and when would it have arrived at the beach?
