CNN Joins the Cover-Up of the Kennedy Assassination

JFK assass CNNBy Frank Gormlie

This may not be a surprise to hardcore corporate media watchers, but CNN has joined the ranks of those establishment outlets that are continuing the cover-up of the assassination of John F Kennedy.  The news station has jumped on the bandwagon that is making a lot of noise these days due to the 50th anniversary of the President’s murder.

It was a real disappointment however, in viewing CNN’s “The Assassination of President Kennedy” because one of my favorite actors, Tom Hanks, was one of the producers and I was looking for some truth. Alas, it did not come through.

The show promised a look at the Warren Commission Report, and it started out with a lot of television footage from those crazy days in Dallas, November 22nd through the 24th when Lee Harvey Oswald was killed by Jack Ruby.  The old TV scenes in black and white gave the film authenticity, which were followed up by interviews of some of the major researchers and book authors on the killing of Kennedy.

JFK assass Oswald

It started off fairly balanced, with old scenes of Jim Garrison – the New Orleans DA who brought the only trial  involving the assassination to life in America – , interviews with Mark Lane – the original critic of the Warren Commission, and also interviews with those who back the “3-bullet theory” and think Oswald did it and did it alone.

(You may recall that in Oliver Stone’s movie, “JFK”, Kevin Costner plays Garrison and in a great ironic twist, Stone had the real Garrison play Chief Justice Earl Warren – the head of the Commission.)

One of the principle Warren supporters that in the end CNN gave a lot of face time to,  is author/ attorney Vince Bugliosi who also wrote a book on the shootings. His views were intertwined with interviews with Lane and other critics along with Warren Report advocates.

But Bugliosi slammed those like Garrison and Lane who questioned the Report, and as the program wore on,  however, Bugliosi’s voice and viewpoint became the main line of the show. And he’s full of it.

Bugliosi penned a book that was the basis for the new Kennedy movie, “Parkland” – about the hospital where JFK and then Oswald were both brought.  The movie does the best job of any other film in capturing the shock, sorrow and grief of us commoners and those immediately surrounding Kennedy.  Yet, it collapses into basically going with the flow of Warren. So, both “Parkland” and the CNN video demonstrate that the cover-up of the murder of Kennedy is alive and well, thank you.

JFK_movie_posterCNN is not alone, of course, as a number of new videos and films being promoted by the History Channel and by the National Geographic channel all support the Warren.

Here are a few examples of where CNN failed Americans by continuing to shove the cover-up down our collective throats:

  • First, not one word about the 1979 Congressional investigation into the assassination and their conclusion that Kennedy was “probably killed by a conspiracy”.
  • No expert criticism of the “magic bullet” that supposedly struck both Kennedy and then Texas Governor Connally – in fact, Bugliosi demonstrated how it could happen; recall after causing 7 wounds between the two men, the bullet was found mysteriously on a Parkland hospital gurney in pristine condition.
  • No illumination on or interviews with witnesses who saw puffs of smoke coming from the wooden fence at the top of the Grassy Knoll or who saw suspicious activity on that mound or who heard gunshots emanating from that area during or before the shootings.
  • No mention of the other guy who was wounded that day in Dealey Plaza in Dallas – which would mean a fourth bullet.
  • Whole cloth acceptance of the photo of Oswald holding a rifle in his backyard – despite the debunking of the photo since the Seventies as a fake; one clearly can see shadows on Oswald’s face that don’t match the shadows of the male body and other objects in the photo. Plus, Oswald’s face was pasted onto someone else’s body – you can easily see the cut line just above the chin (Oswald had a cleft in his chin – the photo chin does not).
  • CNN just wants us to accept that Dallas police officer Tippet was also shot and killed by Oswald; it ignored those witnesses who had seen Tippet, Ruby and Oswald all together just nights before the shootings.
  • Nothing was raised about how Jack Ruby got into the Dallas police department basement that day when he shot Oswald before millions of TV viewers (I was one of them as a 15 year old). In fact, it is well documented Ruby was known by half of the police force, as he used to buy them all drinks at his club in Dallas; plus Ruby also had CIA and mob connections.
  • No critique of the Warren Commission is heard, despite it being filled with politicians and officials who hated Kennedy. For example, Allen Dulles sat on it and was one of its busiest members of the “investigation” into the assassination.  Yet, not too much earlier, JFK had fired Dulles as head of the CIA.  Dulles and many in the CIA hated Kennedy for the Bay of Pigs fiasco. It was also rumored that Kennedy was going to replace Lyndon Johnson as vice-president in the upcoming election in 1964.  J Edgar Hoover was head of the FBI at the time and supplied the Warren Commission with all its evidence, leaving out evidence or refusing to follow leads that contradicted the main story line of Oswald, Book Depository 6th floor window, solo sniper. It was more than rumors that Kennedy was going to fire Hoover once he was re-elected.
  • Importantly, CNN did not disclose any of the mysterious deaths of witnesses and other principles involved in the murder or subsequent cover-up.  Too many witnesses met tragic endings within 3 years of the shootings – odds that defy logic – but the news channel ignored all of them.
  • CNN described how Garrison brought charges against New Orleans businessman Clay Shaw (played by Tommy Lee Jones in “JFK”) and how he failed to prove any connection with the assassination or with the CIA that Garrison alleged. Yet, nothing was said on how a CIA director told the media years later that Clay Shaw did indeed work for the CIA.

I could go on, but I think you get the picture; CNN – an establishment media giant – does not wish to buck the official position that Oswald killed JFK, alone, and with 3 bullets. So, CNN continues the white-wash – and the traitorous cover-up.

November 22nd, 1963, was more than just one of the darkest days in American history. The Dealey Plaza murder of one of the most popular Presidents goes to the heart of our democracy, to its core.

If those who killed Kennedy can get away with it after half a century, and it appears that the conspiracy originated within the highest levels of government, then without bringing anyone to justice, America remains a country and society beholden to the military-industrial complex – a power within the government that Kennedy’s predecessor, President Eisenhower, warned us about in his farewell speech to the nation.

So, we shouldn’t be too surprised, then that major corporate media – like CNN – continue to play along, and continue the cover-up.  And it continues to be up to us, the American people, to get to the bottom of it all, to bring these traitors to account.

Sadly, as long as the cover-up continues, serious doubts remain as to just how genuine our “democracy” is.

The truth is out there.

The truth is out there, but you ignore anything that doesn’t fit your conspiracy beliefs, and therefore conclude that CNN, Tom Hanks, The History Channel, and National Geographic are all part of the cover up. How convenient for you! It’s now been fifty years since the JFK assassination and there been NO credible evidence pointing to anyone other than Oswald as the shooter. So you seem content to not only misstate facts but make up new ones of your own, with no supporting evidence. The bullet you call “pristine” was badly damaged at its base, because that’s the part that hit Connelly’s wrist bone after tumbling. The 1979 Congressional investigation introduced NO new evidence, and centered on “acoustic evidence” of the assassination that was completely discredited when proven to be recorded AFTER the shots were fired. But why bother? All we learn from this piece is that your mind is completely closed on this subject.

Olepoke – It’s not just me who doubts the Warren Report; here’s a short list of others: Jacquelin Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, and ultimately Lyndon Johnson – and oh, nearly two out of three Americans.

Frank: The Warren Commission Report was a flawed process for sure; but I doubt you’ve ever read it. And after 50 years and countless examinations of the evidence, the facts support the Commission’s conclusion that Oswald was the lone gunman. None of the conspiracy claims hold up under scrutiny, and neither do any of your unsupported assertions, which exemplify the intellectual dishonesty that is rampant among the conspiracy crowd. You’re not interested in an honest pursuit of the truth, just cherry picking or mischaracterizing evidence to suit your need. Too bad, because the truth in this case is more interesting than the fiction you want to sell us.

Frank: Your question makes clear that you didn’t even fully read my first reply. Not surprising. And certainly supports my suspicion you never bothered to read the Warren Report. Again, intellectual dishonesty (and laziness). See in that first reply that it stated “The bullet you call “pristine” was badly damaged at its base, because that’s the part that hit Connelly’s wrist bone after tumbling (the scar on his back is oblong). The 1979 Congressional investigation introduced NO new evidence, and centered on “acoustic evidence” of the assassination that was completely discredited by all parties when proven to be recorded AFTER the shots were fired.” I will add here that regarding the photo of Oswald holding the rifle (the same rifle that was found on the sixth floor with Oswald’s prints on it and three spent shell casings), Marina Oswald testified she took that photo (at Oswald’s request), and Oswald’s friend George de Mohrenschildt has a copy of the photo that Oswald signed after writing “Hunter of Fascists” (which multiple experts authenticated as Oswald’s handwriting). In addition, modern grain analysis of the original photo confirmed NO altering of the original photograph. But Frank, it’s your job to prove your conspiracy claims by presenting credible evidence, which you’ve made no attempt to do and seem poorly equipped to even try. You can chase your tail on this subject, but I have no interest in joining you.

Allen November 20, 2013 at 4:41 pm

Olepoke. You are correct about the photo. Marina has said repeatedly that she took the photo, however, the rest of your theories are not accurate. I have read the entire Warren Report. The bullet, while not pristine is not nearly damaged enough to have caused several wounds in two men. Also, the acoustic evidence has not been debunked. Moreover, you have to engage in willful disregard to look at the Zapruder film and say that the final shot came from the back. It is just not possible to be hit from the rear and be thrown violently back.

Reply

Frank Gormlie November 20, 2013 at 5:34 pm

Allen, no Olepoke is not correct about the well-known and well-debunked backyard photos. Oswald’s head is the exact same size and exact pose in all 3 versions, yet the fence, the shadows, plants, etc change shapes.

So what if Marina said she took it – she was held incommunicado for months by the FBI and the record shows she often changed her mind on many issues; – yet, bottom line, it’s clearly not Oswald’s body; it’s a result of paste and cut.

The President of the United States of America was murdered in broad daylight and somebody(s) got to the bottom of it for sure. It surely wasn’t the Warren Commission, which was a political exercise in myth building by manufacturing a quasi-plausible scenario featuring a lone gunman, who in turn was murdered in broad daylight while in police custody.

If there is no “secret” to the most high profile murder case of the 20th Century than why are the official documents sealed and kept from the public?

I think it is a shame how Americans feel the need to choose sides and draw lines in the sand about everything, especially anything political. I believe there are many valid questions concerning the events of the assassination. For the people being red, white and blue contrary for the sake of national pride, makes me wonder if they understand what our nation is supposed to be proud of.

Thanks for your thorough and thoughtful explanation of all the flaws and why nothing in the Oswald version makes any sense at all. I fear for our lives and our democracy just like you. This cover-up cripples our nation and our people. I was six years old when I came home from school at 3 p.m. that day at turned on the television and bought all the crap that was shoved down my throat. The jest of what I saw on the television was that “some crazy man” killed our President…one “lone” crazy man. Fifty years later I was in a book store called Barnes and Noble. I saw this book called “Dead Wrong.” I bought the book and I read it. I read and re-read and read the chapter on JFK’s assassination over and over and over. I grieved over the lies I was told and the dirt that filled my brain for more than fifty years. I followed up on several of the leads described as sources of info in the book. The following year, (2013) I visited my daughter in a town near D.C. and together we went to the gravesite of JFK. My child is twenty years old and she was not even a star on the horizon when I was six years old. I grieved and I grieved and still grieve. Its more than the loss of a father and a leader of a nation. Its the lack of trust I have for the CIA, FBI, Secret service or any other government entity in the USA. If you lie to me and I live with a lie for fifty years, then you make me sick. I want to vomit. I want the pain to end. I want the grandchildren of JFK, Caroline’s children to demand their countrymen to bring forth the truth about their father. It happened in the case of Boston mobster Ray Whitey Bulger and it can happen again.

JFK once made a public speech about
Free Countries need Secret Agency’s out

Could this possibly upset a lone nut
More than the CIA behind doors shut

JFK was planning on pulling our troops out of Vietnam
Anyone dumb enough to think a lone nut gave a damn

More likely the Military Industrial Complex gave a damn
Don’t suppose they got with CIA and came up with a plan

Well aware just how slow the Ignorant Masses are
How about a story, Lone Nut kills JFK in his car

Then lets have another lone nut kill the JFK killer nut
Just in case the JFK killer won’t keep his mouth shut

No problem done deal, just conspiracy nuts for years
Conspiracy nuts, like Atheists don’t give Believers tears

After all, if believers believe religious story’s are true
Back up our story with Godly authority is what we do

I completely agree about the CNN documentary being very biased. I was totally disgusted with how biased and bad it is. It is a travesty of history. Who was impersonating those Secret Service agents on the grassy knoll that came up to numerous people flashing credentials, yet no SS agents were stationed there? Where were all the witnesses who heard the last shot coming from the grassy knoll, and ran up there? NONE of these questions are in this one sided crock. A whitewash and a disgrace. Don’t bother watching it!

People are sheep. They believe anything that is printed. Conspiracies come from the beginning of time. Julius Ceaser to Kings and Queens and even 9/11. Being a combat veteran, Not even the best snipers in the world can hit that moving target with an ancient bolt action rifle in 5.6 seconds. Ignorance is all around us. The Kennedy assassination is such an obvious one. All you can do is to try to help people understand. Propaganda and fear are beautiful things. H. G. Wells alien landing radio broadcast is a perfect example of what people will believe. Just keep on trucking, and always look on the bright side. At least we do not burn woman at the stake anymore for being ” a witch” anymore! Lol

olepoke November 18, 2013 at 11:07 am

In the spirit of promoting understanding, firing three shots from the sixth floor of the TSBD has been duplicated many times within 5.6 to 6.2 seconds using the same bolt action rifle and with the same accuracy – even though numerous examinations of the Zapruder film show the three shots actually occurred over 8.3 seconds. And while in the marines, Oswald twice scored a “sharpshooter” rating at a rate of 200 yards, yet the distance from the sixth floor to the presidential limousine was about 88 yards. And given the slow speed of the limousine, which is moving directly away and on a downward slope from the sixth floor shooter, the target appears to be stationary (as is demonstrated in numerous videos on Youtube).

Reply

Frank Gormlie November 18, 2013 at 2:51 pm

In dispute, the duplicate firings have NOT been done successfully; Oswald could barely fire his rifle in the Marines successfully; and the Presidential limo actually slowed down and even stopped between the 2nd and 3rd shots, allowing the sniper over on the Grassy Knoll a stationary target.

olepoke November 18, 2013 at 3:14 pm

Reply

Allen November 21, 2013 at 8:41 am

Additionally, when you look at the film in the wider view you see the front seat passenger, a Secret Service agent, turn and look at Kennedy while he is being shot. It is only after the fatal head shot that he turns around and the limo speeds off. Question, why was he not scrambling to cover Kennedy? He may not have been able to cover him in time, but he should have tried. Also, Clint Hill was the only agent on the follow up car who tried to get to the limo. He was charged with protecting Jackie. Why did no one rush to the limo to attempt to save Kennedy?

There’s plenty of evidence of a conspiracy, it’s the media is refusing to broadcast/publish it. How is it a prostitute Rose Cheramie just happened to know that JFK was going to be assasinated on 11/22/63, in Dallas, and told people in a hospital TWO DAYS before it happened? Why did mafia leader Santos Trafficante tell associates when they said Kennedy would be re-elected in 1964, that “no, he’s going to be hit.”, and he was? What about the FBI telex that went all over the country that said a “militant revolutionary” group was going to kill JFK in Dallas? What about all the eyewitnesses that were murdered and or died suspicious deaths?

I will never accept the lone gunman/Oswald theory for one simple reason:

Listen to the tape of the 3 shots in real time and picture even a “marksman” like Oswald firing 3 rounds that quickly in succession and hitting his targets each time & you will never buy the “lone gunman theory”, especially wielding a shoddy $25 mail order rifle (even scoped) like he allegedly used.

Reply

candy November 18, 2013 at 8:58 pm

Great observations Steve. That CNN show didn’t mention the scope was defective on that rifle, and that Oswald would also have had to have made those shots through heavy follage – the area had Texas live oak trees in full bloom then.

This is just a little rebuttal to my previous post. I can tell that that olepoke was not a soldier. The highest score you can receive in marksmanship is expert. Sharpshooter is a joke second. Also when you qualify it is never with a moving target. The targets are stationary and you have plenty of time to adjust fire. At that time he most likely used an m14 rifle which is automatic. It is a lot more accurate then an m16 , it’s replacement. In the 90′ it was used as a sniper rifle. Also 200 yards is a joke. And like Frank said he barely qualified with only 2 points to spare on his score card. And if you do just a little bit of research, gunnery sgt. Carlos Hathcock, the best sniper in us history with 93 confirmed kills, did reconstruct the scene and says ” no way could Oswald have done it. Now if I could not do it, how in the world could a guy who was a non qual on the rifle and then later barely qualify marksman( which is the lowest) do it?” Just go to oswald-not-guilty.blogspot.com if you do not believe me. And believe me from being in combat there is a big difference than qualifying at the range. Sincerely, Sgt. Thomas Martin, alpha company, 4/187 infantry 101st Airborne Division , Ft. Campbell, Ky

Sgt Thomas Martin, awesome comment – thanks so much. I remember getting my “expert” marksmanship score in 1966 – all the squad leaders were pushing to get as many in the company to achieve that award. But I did it – yeah, no moving targets – we didn’t have all the time in the world to shoot, but we could take some time to make adjustments.

Reply

Allen November 21, 2013 at 8:29 am

Yes. Good comment Thomas. Thanks for sharing your military expertise. The other thing you have to consider is that the man was shooting at POTUS. His heart rate would have been through the roof. Not conducive to good marksmanship. Also, even if you ignore the attending physicians who said the final shot was a frontal wound, you can’t look at the Zapruder film and say that it came from the back.

Thanks Thomas and everyone for the reasons why they believe there was a conspiracy. Despite a massive disinformation campaign, the American people are not stupid, and STILL believe by a solid majority that there was a conspiracy, not just one nut, behind the murder of President Kennedy.
I was four years old when JFK was murdered. I believe the reason the percentage of people believing in a conspiracy is going down is due to the death of the Vietnam generation. It’s up to my generation and those younger to SEEK OUT the facts about this important subject. Luckily, there USED to be programs that one could see to educate yourself as to the facts of this case. Programs that had a big impact on me were journalist Jack Anderson’s live special for the 25th anniversary of the murder of JFK. He had interviewed many mafia figures who ended up dead and many others. He is sorely missed as a journalist. Then there was A&E’s “The men who killed Kennedy”, which was aired many times around the 25th anniversary. Then came “JFK” the movie, which is still excellent. Interviews with Dr. Cyril Wecht, Don Archer, and others also were greatly influential. I hope people seek all these and more out.

I completely agree. Bugliosi actually asked how did Jack Ruby die of natural causes 3 years after he killed Oswald if Ruby was the one hired to silence Oswald. Well, everyone knows the answer to that, because Ruby kept his mouth shut in Dallas. He BEGGED the Warren Commision to take him to Washington, D.C., as he could not talk freely in Dallas (understatement of the century). No, Earl Warren couldn’t be bothered to find out what Ruby might have to say “there would be no safe place for you” Warren said. Baloney. There have been high profile prisoners for years that D.C. and other cities have been able to secure. Earl Warren didn’t want to know what Ruby would say, so Ruby kept his mouth shut in Dallas, where he was stuck, where the President was killed, and where he was the one hired to silence Oswald.

Within 48 hrs of the assassination, J. Edgar Hoover determined in his report that Oswald did it, and did it alone. Less than a week later, LBJ phoned Hoover over his concern of proposed investigations into the assassination by Congress. “I’d like to get by on just your report” Johnson then told Hoover. “I’d like to create a commission with people who’d I’d appoint. That’s the only way to stop these investigations.” In addition, in this same phone call, Hoover admits they don’t have good evidence connecting Oswald to the murder. This phone call is even available on youtube.
And either at the behest of Hoover or Johnson, Assistant Attorney General Nicholas Katzenbach, following the death of Oswald, sends a memo to Bill Moyers, LBJ’s top aide that “We must convince the public that Oswald was the culprit, and that he has no confederates at large.”

To the conspiracy sheep- The first question you have to ask – If there was a conspiracy, why wait for a parade to kill the president when there are plenty of other options without so many witnesses? Did the three stooges come up with that plan? Also, Why was Oswald the only one missing from the TSBD? There were at least three eyewitnesses to Oswald shooting officer Tippet. There have been numerous duplications of Oswald’s three shots by independent researchers. It was a very easy. Assuming he was aiming at the head, he only hit his target once. Hardly great shooting. Why do conspiracy theorist take up for a miserable person like Oswald despite overwhelming evidence against him? I can go on….

There are so many answers that can be easily answered, I can elaborate in another post, but until then, that you ask these questions instead of seeking out the answers yourself, shows you to be wholly ignorant on the subject of JFK’s death.

I’m sure you could duplicate the shots when the pressure is on .

also nobody in the 1960’s went to Russia and came back twice.
that tells you something about who he worked for right there.
and the horses mouth was shut the next day in public. once again
in public in your own words. why and how did ruby get in tight
security ? answer the myriad of strange events that day and it
all stinks to high heaven. and the best evidence had nothing
to do with the shooting. it’s his brother being killed as soon
as he was on his way to winning the California primary. I’m sure
you have an answer to that also.

Nominay, that is the best argument that I could ever hear, so many excellent examples. From working personally in special ops, I can tell you so many things happen that the public never hears about, and that is from personal experience. Even though I would never say anything, even if I wrote a book, people would not believe. You see how fast the Russians grabbed that soldier that is letting out some of our spying intel. But I just wanted to say job well done!

Thanks man, and thanks for your service. While I can appreciate you holding your tongue on recent secrets, if you’ve got any info going back to JFK, you should outsource that info to whatever party and/or domain that cannot led back to you.

Awesome comments by everyone and that is why I love and fought for this country. Everyone is allowed to express their views. However, remember this country has been run by the rich since the beginning of time. The ratifiers of the constitution were the richest men in America at the time. George Washington, General of all the armies, was the richest land owner. Things are the same today. We are evolving, but as far as killing the president in public, most officials are. Also just a coincidence it was in Johnson’s Texas. Johnson was supposed to decline the 1960 offer, if you study history. He was not going to be on the 64 ticket. And remember Hoover said ther is no Mafia, no such thing. Believe that also. Whatever you believe, you have that right. Be proud to have it and respect your fellow Americans comments. Many people have died for you to keep these rights, as I have also lost many good brothers. I’m sure you all know someone or have family that gave everything for us to keep this freedom of speech. Keep the comments rolling! What a great day to be an American

I wish I did, but the assassination was way prior to my service. I can only rely on research and knowledge of how our government works. As far as President Kennedy’s death, if I had any knowledge, I would obviously say it. But I have been to many countries and been in many operations that the government does not say a word. I am not the only one, many special ops soldiers are involved, that is how I can say from first hand expierience that many secrets of the government never come to the light of the people. That is as far as I will go with the subject and thank you very much for your appreciation of my service. We are not a perfect country, but be happy because we are by far the best. I was very proud to serve. I am very proud of all Americans and what is so great is our freedoms we take for granted. I respect everyone’s opinion, whether I agree or not. The only thing I despise is when people who are American’s that bash and hate our country. Conspiracies exist, I am a firm believer. But if another American does not think so, that is fine with me. Always keep an open mind to everything and like I said from first hand expierience , there are so many operations that are never heard about. Thanks to all and keep the comments and facts coming. And nominay you have made a great case with facts. Excellent !!

Thanks again for your warm regards and patriotic enthusiasm.
I’ve studied JFK’s and RFK’s deaths on and off since 1990.
I’m interested in evidence, not theories, and there’s aplenty of evidence. If you have any question regarding any aspect of the assassination, I can likely provide you with interesting details that are sourced out and not conjecture. Peace.

This whole anniversary and build up to the anniversary has been depressing in that there has never been a trial for this crime of the century. The murderers of JFK got away scot free, witnesses were killed, investigations like Jim Garrison’s discredited deliberately. On the other hand, the huge ratings the JFK specials are getting is wonderful! Especially among young people! I don’t care if someone’s first exposure to this crime is a one sided hit piece like this CNN swill or Bill O’Reilly’s propaganda, people will ask more and more questions and look for the answers like we all have done for years. Kudos to all the people who stood up when it mattered at first, the groundbreaking Mark Lane’s, Dr. Cyril Wecht’s, etc. and those who have followed this case demanding answers. Clint Hill, of all people, arrogantly tweeted today “sixth floor, one shooter,” blah, blah, blah, like anyone is going to take him for an authority. Think for yourself and teach your children to do otherwise, and you won’t be the “Patsy” of revisionist history and lies.

Sorry, can’t edit, I meant to say teach your children also to think for themselves.
