Yes, the OB Rag is back.

We at the OB Rag have been overwhelmed with the responses of readers and supporters from our crisis/ crossroads.

Over the last couple of weeks, people have expressed their desire to see us continue to publish.  Some great ideas and observations have come our way.

A number of good folks have begun sending in $10 a month – and in total, we have received nearly $600 in donations – mostly in small donations. Although several individuals and couples have sent us a couple hundred dollars.

This is great.  We will continue to publish into 2014 on sort of an experimental basis; we will hire a part-time reporter and a part-time ad salesperson.  We will maintain our office in the Green Store on Voltaire. We will continue to garner ads and expressions of support form local groups and businesses.

We are back.

We will continue to publish news and views of OB and beyond (mainly the Peninsula and beach area), and will continue to share our reviews of restaurants and businesses, our reports on important meetings and events – and importantly, provide a platform and forum for OBceans and others on substantial issues for the village.

We’ve been at it for 6 years – as long as our namesake, the original OB People’s Rag, was published in the 1970’s. So, we will continue with your help and support. Please, if you have a suggestion on what to cover, how to improve, how to upgrade our access – do not hesitate to offer it.

Thanks to all who stepped up and made us feel good about what we’re doing. Keep it up.

Now that you have your other local-liberal-blog, why not make this site more about OB, and less about proselytizing your agenda (the other site can be for that ;-)).

Our community needs a popular Blog and Forum for discussion of local issues. The problem is that you guys don’t accept dissenting views, or opinions that run counter to your own. I only check this blog every few months, or when a local issue comes up, and a certainly don’t post my opinion, because in the past it was not published, and was censored.

(Most) businesses are not going to want to support you if there is a chance that their support could be viewed as an assault on a portion of their customer base.

This site could be great for the community and could be very successful if you decided to make it more about OB, and less about your political agenda. I am not saying that you should leave your political views out, I am saying that you should be more open the the opinions and politics of people different than you in the community. Our community (for those of us that live here…. lol) is quite diverse politically.
