There was a twist to the domestic violence incident that occurred in Point Loma the night of Saturday, March 30th. The woman involved went to jail and the male went to the hospital. Usually, it’s the other way around.
This time, the woman allegedly stabbed the guy – her boyfriend – in the arm during an argument at 3266 Loma Riviera Drive in Point Loma, police say.
San Diego Police officer David Stafford stated to the press:
“A woman in her late 30s got into an argument with her boyfriend. and she took out a knife and stabbed him in the arm.”
Stafford also said that the unidentified suspect was booked into jail for suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and domestic violence, and the guy was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for a non-life threatening injury.
There are discrepancies on the exact time the incident occurred. CBS 8 has the incident around 6:15 pm, whereas the U-T said police arrived at the residence about 4:15 pm.
This story’s twist – not to minimize or trivialize it – is such because, it is axiomatic among those who deal with domestic violence incidents, like para-medics, cops, and lawyers, that by far in most incidents the woman is the victim, and the male the assailant / suspect.

Do not mean to poke my nose into their business, but this is shocking for Loma Riviera, which is normally a very quiet, discreet, family-type oasis. I did a little checking and noticed that the address of 3266 LR Dr. is listed as a foreclosure property. Perhaps all that time spent together with family on Easter weekend combined with money problems caused someone to flip out?
3266 Loma Riviera Dr. is not in foreclosure, it was a post-foreclosure property which means the lender had already taken control of the property when it was purchased by the current owners. Loma Riviera is for the most part, a nice place to live, relatively quiet and safe. However, no place is immune to problems or crime and nobody ever really knows what goes on behind closed doors.
