Here at OB Rag central, there’s no one left as we’ve all gone camping.

But we’ve left an OPEN THREAD – so readers can speak their minds and express their thoughts – someone will be monitoring comments to let newbies in. Just add your comments at the bottom here and we’ll see you next week.

And don’t forget – the good folks over at San Diego Free Press are still in town, so use this weekend to check them out.

Are there places left to camp within? I thought everything had been covered w/ concrete. What’s it like out there, wherever you are? All I can see is asphalt, concrete, cars, trucks, busses–wait, there’s a tree.
Have a wonderful time, wherever you are.

Anybody feel an earthquake in OB or Pt. Loma today around 12:30?

Don’t think it was seismic; I think it was strictly sonic. There have been similar events in the past, as recently as last April 13th. Folks at SIO’s IGPP as well as others around the county recorded that boom, and by triangulation determined that the source was about 50 miles offshore. See April 13, 2012 San Diego Boom Report. I’m guessing today’s event was a similar situation. They still haven’t figured out what caused that April event!

It was a sonic boom caused by two Navy F/18 fighter jets.

voice of san diego reports this morning (sat) that the Navy has fessed up that it was a twin sonic boom caused by two jets doing a demonstration for Navy families… your tax dollars at work!

“Since 1973, supersonic flight over land by civil aircraft has been prohibited by regulation in the United States.” FAA Doc.
Gosh, were it not the military, I would have scheduled a picnic & a meeting to discuss a class action suit.
If they got away w/ invading Iraq, they will surely get away w/ a couple of booms.
