It was sunny, it was busy, it was the best day of the year here in OB!

As usual, the fair introduced the new with the best of  tradition. Music was hoping with 6 free stages! The Big Main Stage, the 92107 Stage for OB local bands, three other stages featuring roots, rock, alternative and everything in between. This year, the beautiful Electric Ladyland venue also hosted a stage.

An extra special new offering was the Bike Valet, it was a fantastic idea and looked like it was popular.

The Chili Cook-Off was as much fun and as busy as ever. Swarms of small-spoon-wielding chili enthusiasts yelled to each other from different lines about which booth was offering the best chili: “Try number 17! Dude, it’s so good they’re  going to run out FAST!”  You can tell which chili competitor is the popular one of the moment by watching the migration of the crowd.  At the end of the day, the taste testers were the true winners but awards were given as follows:

This year, there were two murals painted, one in honor of our 125th Anniversary and the other inspired by the fantastic Ocean Beach Street Fair poster design of surfers and a beautiful orange sunset. No final word on where these will be permanently hung but look for them somewhere in our community soon.

Once again, kudos to all those in Ocean Beach who helped make the fair possible including all those who just came on down to have fun.  Not only did you contribute to bringing us together as a community but gave us a chance to show off our town and raise money for the fireworks coming July 4th (don’t miss them!)

And a huge thanks to the Ocean Beach Mainstreet Association and all those very hard workers, the day couldn’t have happened without you!  Also, thanks are owed to the many sponsors, vendors and merchants who support Ocean Beach on Fair Day and so many other days as well.

Here’s my video of the Fair:
