Former Chargers Pro Bowler Junior Seau has committed suicide according to a source within the Oceanside police department NBCSanDiego has learned.

According to officials at the North Community Fire Department no one was transported from the home.

Our media partners at the North County Times report Seau died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The medical examiner’s office told NBCLA they have staff en route to Oceanside however, the office told NBCSanDiego they could not confirm or deny the report of a death inside the home. They said they have no information regarding the police activity outside Seau’s home.

Beyond seeing him win a playoff game, I saw him twice in La Jolla. First time was when he was a rookie with The Chargers at a stockbrokers’ office. He was a newlywed with Gina, if that. Gina was the pictionary definition of a hot USC coed and Junior was a gorgeous man, too. They were there with a friend of theirs. As I went in to my appointment, I said “Hey Junior, love your work.” He replied with an enthusiastic “thanks.”

The next time I saw him, he was by himself at a La Jolla Country Club celebration of Independence Day. He seemed a tad out of place waiting for water, but you know he knew he was surrounded by fans. Some pinhead pulled some school yard punk stunt by lunging at his shorts and unhooking a pocket cover. Everyone ignored it. After all, what is the appropriate current Samoan or former NFL linebacker reaction to an idiot touching his person?

The one time I remember seeing Junior play was with the Chargers winning a play off game at home. I remember him walking off of the field, in to the tunnel. I remember how damn gorgeous he looked.

The word “sad” only begins to describe Junior’s death.

I mean…… was it money problems??? Why would he kill himself? And people who commit suicide…..dont they shoot themselfs in the head? A chest shot??? Really?…maybe so but somethings not right.
