Here is a list of actions this week – April 17th -20th – in support of workers’ rights. Brought to us by our San Diego – Imperial Counties Labor Council.
Tax Day National Day of Action at Congressman Bilbray’s Office
WHAT: San Diegans say NO to Tax Dodgers and Tax Cheats. Under the House Republicans’ budget, millionaires and huge corporations will be given even more tax breaks while essential help for working families, military service personnel, students, vets, seniors and the poor will be cut drastically and thousands of workers will be laid off.
EVENT: Tax Day – National Day of Action. Demonstrators will highlight a list of budget demands including:
- Ending the Bush tax cuts for wealthy Americans.
- Establishing a minimum tax rate of 30% for millionaires so they don’t pay a lower rate than working families, like President Obama’s Buffett Rule.
- Ending tax loopholes and tax subsidies for big corporations and Wall Street.
WHO: Workers across the nation will raise their voices to demand the 1% pay their fair share. It’s time to overhaul the tax code to reflect the needs and values of America’s majority.

The tax code is rigged for the 1%. Not only do corporations like Bank of America get away with dodging taxes, the millionaire CEOs of these unpatriotic companies get a fat tax refund each year thanks to the Bush tax cuts. But we’ve had enough, and the 99% is fighting back to make millionaires and corporations pay their fair share.
As millions of people file their taxes on Tax Day, April 17, we’re organizing “Tax the 1%” protests to express our outrage that the rich and corporations aren’t paying their fair share to help rebuild the economy. We’ll march, rally, and protest at big, tax-dodging banks and corporations and throughout our communities to highlight the disparity in the tax code for the 99% compared to the 1%. Picket and Rally – Wednesday the 18th
AFGE Picket and Rally 11:45am-12:30pm, opposing a USCIS office move that would make immigration services less accessible to the public. @ Union and Broadway (we will be marching to Front St.) in Downtown San Diego.
