Army Lt. Ehren Watada is the first officer to publicly refuse to deploy to the U.S. war on the people of Iraq. Army authorities at Fort Lewis, Washington are attempting to court martial him for a second time but a Federal judge has issued a temporary stay (until Nov. 9) and is considering his lawyers’ arguments that a second trial would be “double jeopardy.”
The Friends and Family of Lt. Watada are calling for one-hour vigils around the U.S. this Saturday, Nov. 3. (and the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of every month)
Join us at Horton Plaza, 4th and Broadway, in downtown San Diego this Saturday, Nov. 3, from 11 am to 12 Noon.
Gerry Condon, a national steering committee member of the Friends and Family of Lt. Watada, will be present to update us.
Bring signs that say:
1) No second court martial for Lt. Watada
2) Dismiss all the charges
3) Release Lt. Watada from the Army with an Honorable Discharge
