Abbott Street, OB.

The San Diego Police have not received any reports of assaults or robberies on Abbott Street in Ocean Beach in recent weeks.

According to Officer Dave Whitfield, the new Community Relations officer for the Western Division – which includes OB – he did an investigation into the police calls they have received, there have not been any reports of the alleged assaults and robberies on that street.

The OB Rag posted two fliers that were found along Abbott Street on Sept. 21st, that assert there had been three assaults on young men walking along Abbott late at night, and that they all had been robbed.  The fliers stated that all the young men had been assaulted in the same manner, that as they walked on the sidewalks along Abbott late at night, they were struck on the head from the behind as they crossed allies.

Also, Officer Whitfield spoke to one of the department’s area detectives, and it was confirmed that there had been no new rash of assaults.

I think it’s awesome when the news reports that NO assaults have occurred. I hope this news can be reported everyday.

I am sure drunkards get beat up here and there but the fliers stated that it was the same crime, someone waiting in the alley and hitting someone over the head. It stated that it happened to several people.

I just read a flier during the blackout that said there were cat burglars breaking in at night around Abbott and Brighton. The signs were on Brighton. The neighbor who lives across from the burners “Jon” confirmed that a young woman had woken up in the middle of the night and when she yelled at the guy to get out, they got into a scuffle, and she was injured. She felt the person who had broken in KNEW the lay of the land inside her apartment. I want to be fair and give the newbie cop a second chance to check his facts. Maybe he should do that…
