While negotiations with Ralphs, Vons, and Albertsons continue and the United Food and Commercial Workers union keeps fighting to protect their members’ health benefits, grocery workers need our support. In the spirit of solidarity, please join us as we stand united with the grocery workers on Friday at noon.
Solidarity Rally
12 p.m. on Friday, July 15, 2011
at
VONS (off Aero Dr.)
3550 Murphy Canyon Rd., San Diego 92123
For questions or to RSVP, please contact Elizabeth at enewman@unionyes.org or (619) 228-8101.
Until the workers go on strike, you should continue to shop at your neighborhood Vons, Ralphs, or Albertsons; however, in the event of a strike, please do not cross the picket lines. Click here to view the union grocery alternatives in your area.
Whether you can or cannot attend the rally on Friday, please continue to suppport the grocery workers in their struggle for a fair contract. Here’s a way you can help : Each time you shop at one of these stores ask to speak to the manager after you have paid for your groceries, then show them your receipt and let them know that if there is a strike, they will lose that sale.
We hope to see you on Friday!

People are shortsighted, self-centered, & envy the greedy – unbelievable when you think of it.

i guess no one remembers 2007…..go on strike for mickie and loose your house…..sounds fair
Doug – huh? You haven’t given us enough info or enough for even a sentence.
ok ob joe i’ll expand,in 2007 all the major food chains except stater bros. went on strike.during this time sd county was burning due to a major wild fire.the strike lasted approx. 4-5 months.the stikers were getting about a $125 aweek strike pay.mickie kasperian the union pres. was still during the strike getting his $186,000 a year salery.in fact while these strikers were moving closer to loosing there houses, cars, ect. mickie bought his wife a new escalade(cadillac)for x-mas. most of those strikers ended up find a new job, moved on,lost their houses, cars ect.so the next question ob joe do you get it-go on strike loose your house, your job, while your union pres. draws his full salery, sounds very fair to me.
