That the members of the Wisconsin Supreme Court were deeply divided has hardly been a secret of late. When the justices this month decided a law curtailing collective bargaining rights for public workers should come into effect, one of the dissenting justices openly accused the other side of a “partisan slant.”
But signs of a strong philosophical debate within the court reached a different level with a report published on Saturday suggesting that the argument had, shortly before the release of the ruling on collective bargaining, turned physical.
The report by the Wisconsin Center for Investigative Journalism and Wisconsin Public Radio described an episode in which three unnamed sources said that Justice David T. Prosser had grabbed another justice, Ann Walsh Bradley, around the neck during an argument in her chambers this month.

Just for clarification’s sake: This is the very same Justice Prosser who just recently won a razor thin election victory due to the incompetence of one county’s election official over the more liberal candidate JoAnne Kloppenberg in Wisconsin. This is the guy that Wisconsin, in their infinite wisdom, sent back to the Supreme Court. This is who Conservatives are.
What a complete disgrace……..
Let’s not be so quick to jump on this one. Multiple sources reported that it was Justice Bradley who attacked Justice Prosser. They report that he was defending himself. If that’s the case, I would expect a similar comment that she is a complete disgrace. If he, instead, attacked her unprovoked, well then his resignation, I would hope, would be soon forthcoming. And I would hope for the same from Justice Bradley as well.
Whatever the case, a productive relationship does not seem to be in the making.
Yeah, right……..he defended himself by placing his hands around her neck and squeezing…….That’s generally considered more of an OFFENSIVE maneuver than a defensive one. And there are no reports that she struck him, only that she moved toward him in an angry manner.
Yeah, consider the sources. I’ll place my money on Bradley speaking truth.
Multiple sources sounds really definitive. Maybe we could get that introduced as evidence. I’m sure Judge Prosser would allow it in his court if they were saying what he wanted to hear.
