Hello again! Thanks for following me last week with a departure guest entry, I hope it was as well-received as it was deserving. This week I’m going back to my own idea bin, and I’ve got a video that, even though you might not dig the music, provides an awesome slide show to check out.
The Dropkick Murphys are a Irish celtic punk band – except they’re not from Ireland. I don’t know if they’ve even ever toured there – they’re a bunch of second and third generation immigrants from the Boston area. Which is cool by me, I still claim ties to my homeland, even though my ancestors departed the emerald isle over 200 years ago and I’m less than one-half of any breed in particular, by the recollection of the old family tree. If you want true Irish modern punk rock, check out Flogging Molly, a band that might just kick even more ass due to their authenticity and more-liberal use of bagpipe. But I still like this song, which epitomizes the blue-collar spirit of the working class that this band is all about, and whose tastes they aim to cater to…

Yes yes yes. You know Matt Hensley owns a pub up in Carlsbad. Seen a few good bands there. Even run into some old Scottish skinheads up there and listen to some colorful stories.

The music is good, but the visuals!! . . . what a great collection of images, and pretty appropriate for May Day week. The CTA is sending a bunch of teachers to Sacramento next week to get all over the capital to lobby for schools and against cuts, Ellen is going to raise some hell and I will show herr this for inspiration. . . .
