OCEAN BEACH, Calif. — Business owners in Ocean Beach said their businesses are suffering after a TV show that was being filmed in the area was abruptly canceled.

The FX show “Terriers” was shot in San Diego from February to June and was about two detectives. The show may have been a hit in Ocean Beach, where it was filmed, but it never found an audience and was canceled recently because of poor ratings.

The owner of The Old Townhouse Restaurant said they shut down his restaurant for a day and he was hoping the filming would make a name for business.

What’s this, OB starting to depend upon FOX networks? or is it FX? Is that related to FOX? I’m fx’n confused. Scary times indeed…

Here’s a thought OB businesses….offer discounts to those who live in 92107. Making some money is better than no money at all. Advertise daily specials …..hey use the rag to get the message out? Time to think outside the box and now depend on hollywood.

Yeah no kidding. They do that sort of thing in Hawaii too; there’s a word you mention at the stores and they kick you down a discount, local style.

I tried to order a “Hank Special” at the old town restaurant but they didn’t have one. perhaps adding some fun “Terriers” items to the menu they can make a few extra bucks off of the show filmed in OB.

Me thinks its a horrible blunder by the decision makers at FX to cancel this intreguing, cutting edge, and great dialoged show.

thank goodness i don’t pay for cable tv. one good show to watch wasn’t worth the expense. i don’t own a tv so i watched it online a day after it aired on tv.

So how were these businesses doing before the show? It sucks the show got cancelled but its pretty pathetic that these business depend on a Hollywood TV show. I think they’re stretching the truth a bit by saying they’re “suffering” because of the show’s canx.

I just wonder who are the 200 buisness’s who benefited from the show being ” in town” ….seems like a stretch to me….If that is the case why did they quote only one cafe owner ? hummm.
Just as in an new venture : TV show , contracting buisness, coffehouse or bar if you put out a quality product peole will invest in you if you are just so so in this market you are history. It’s supply n demand.
The show was average TV watching….I never made a special point to watch it….cool OB was featured but average acting average muttered dialog as well…….Not worth the time to see 2-5 scenes of OB once a week. I can just go to newport and see it.

When you vote in the clicker poll, you can also vote for Terriers in Best Canceled Show and Most Underrated Show. It appears you can vote as many times as you like. I’m not from Ocean Beach, I’ve never even been there, but I love Terriers, so let’s bring it back!
