The Day of the Dead, November 2, is a national holiday in Mexico and is promoted widely as an effort to preserve indigenous traditions as well as to encourage tourism. Día de los Muertos is also widely observed and celebrated throughout the United States. Nowhere, however, in Mexico or in the United States, is the celebration more important, more authentic, more meaningful and moving, and more colorful than in Oaxaca. The many years of experience of Tierra del Sol in Oaxaca gives you a unique opportunity to share every aspect of the Día de los Muertos with the marvelous people of Oaxaca and learn why it is a celebration of life as well as a recognition and honoring of the dead.

Wonderful video! I’ve always love the art and imagery associated with Dia de Muertos.

Is there anything going on in TJ today? I was thinking about taking a day trip out there.

Hey Abby- I’ve been poking around to see if I could find anything posted for Monte Los Olivos. People were there yesterday. There is a tour on the 6th, which seems rather odd, and you can read about it here:

Anna’s video pick of the week has received over 1500 hits today. If you go to google and type in Dia de los Muertos – her video on the OB Rag is numero uno!
