Jon Stewart rally logoSome San Diegans are trying to find a San Diego location for reasonable and progressive leaning people to gather to rally/watch the Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert Washington D.C. rallies on October 30th. The event will be broadcase from 9 am to noon West Coast time.

For the San Diego event see rallysanitysd@gmail.com

In general, see http://www.rallytorestoresanity.com/

Groups in some cities are planning simultaneous outdoor rallies via Facebook where they will watch the event live on CSPANn, but there does not seem to be much going on in San Diego. For an outdoor event, money would need to be raised to set up screens/cable feeds etc. In LA., they are trying to raise $16,000 for an event.

Go here for other locations: (the supplied link is no longer valid) Rallies are listed here–in Tuscon, a hotel (Hotel Congress) is hosting the event.

San Diegans are looking to find an indoor location that already has the TV monitors/cable feed, like a sports bar, entertainment venue, or hotel.

Do you have any ideas where a San Diego event could be organized?

Would you be interested in helping to promote the event?

If so, email the OB Rag at obragblog@gmail.com – or leave comments here below – and we will forward them to the San Diego organizers.

They might want to check into doing it at Qualcomm Stadium. There is an entertainment area at the foot of the trolley station that the Chargers have set up with a big screen, and they should be able to hook up the cable feed to it.

It’s likely to cost a few bucks, and I don’t know who owns the equipment they’ve set up or who’s responsible for it (my guess would be the Chargers), but it might be worth looking into. It’s a place everyone knows, and it can accommodate as many people as necessary.

I already checked, and the Aztecs are on the road that day, but the Chargers do play a home game the next day.

Sounds like an a good lead, I will try to contact Qualcomm.
My favorite rally slogan
“I may disagree with you, but I am pretty sure you are not Hitler.”

I was thinking of going with “Down with that sort of thing.”
