The Center on Policy Initiatives (CPI) has just launched a new service for voters, “Follow The Money.”

Find out where local candidates get their money!

  • How much has the tourism industry contributed to the mayoral candidates?
  • Is a city council candidate being funded by a certain company’s employees?
  • Who are the biggest donors to city attorney candidates?
  • How much have candidates given to their own campaigns?

“Voters need to know where candidates get their money,” said CPI Communications Director Susan Duerksen. “This service makes it easy to search and sort through the reported contributions.”

The searchable database contains information from the first set of campaign contribution statements filed with the San Diego City Clerk in the 2008 elections for Mayor, City Attorney and City Council, as well as all contributions in the 2005-06 elections. You can search by candidate, contributor, industry, zip code, election, date, or any combination of categories.

There will be a permanent link to this site in out sidebar under “Events and Resources”
