Local OB musician Jefferson Jay and his partner Arlene played for the OB Rag‘s celebration last weekend.

And it turned out Jefferson wrote us a song, “The OB Rag Rag”, which of course they played – and actually got a few folks dancing and stomping their feet.

Here are the lyrics:

The OB Rag Rag
(Happy 10th Anniversary)

by Jefferson Jay

Here’s to the OB Rag,
Where justice writing for our
people is our bag,
With even saddest stories, spirits
never sag,
Where folks are flying Ocean
Beach’s flag.

Looking out for the people here,
With intentions to be revered,
Where our conscience is always
clear,
And we sip on the micro-brewed
beer.

With the freedom of press and
speech,
There’s always a ton to teach.
Hopeful futures within our reach,
as we’re practicing what we
preach.

Here’s to the OB Rag,
Where justice writing for our
people is our bag,
With even saddest stories, spirits
never sag,
Where folks are flying Ocean
Beach’s flag.

Our target, a safer world
For Ocean Beach boys and girls
Where our future becomes
unfurled
Like long, precious strings of
pearls

Reproving ourselves each day,
While exhibiting the way,
We’re practicing while we play,
Writing words for a brighter day

Here’s to the OB Rag,
Where justice writing for our
people is our bag,
With even saddest stories, spirits
never sag,
Where folks are flying Ocean
Beach’s flag.

For the OB Rag, 10 years,
Our village’s finest dears
Are diligent with their spears,
but always in search of cheers.

For the OB Rag, 10 years,
The throat of our conscious clears,
Vanquishing former fears,
Humble as we are here.

Here’s to the OB Rag,
Where justice writing for our
people is our bag,
With even saddest stories, spirits
never sag,
Where folks are flying Ocean
Beach’s flag.

For justice, we persevere.

Hail the OB Rag
Hail the OB Rag
Hail the OB Rag
Hail the OB Rag
